Juicy Couture

surfermegz I can't speak for everyone else, but I can say that I dislike Juicy because I think it is terribly overhyped and most of it is not very attractive. I don't like sweatpants on anybody, though I recognise their value for track practice or as pyjamas. In my opinion, track suits should stay in the gym or on the track, not be made out of velours and worn with high-heels, a thousand-dollar purse, and a chihuahua.

I think Juicy is horribly overpriced for what it is, and their name annoys me. "Juicy" just sounds gross...like a big slobbery dog, or a fart that went terribly awry, and Couture is extra-super-high-quality custom-made, hand crafted clothing, not mass produced workout gear.

I will have to agree with you on some of this. This post started because I was going through my closet and saw my first Juicy jacket with the old label. I even remeber then thinking, "What a waste on something that looks so simple! It doesn't even look expensive." But I guess that is part of the hype.

I have been a Juicy fan because I work out often and it was always comfortable and lasted longer. I also love to wear it when I travel overseas because a 15 hr flight is horribly long and its best to be somewhat comfortable and not look like you are wearing your brothers sweatpants.

Now my issue with Juicy has been lately also, the sweat pants that say Juicy on the rear or hugely down the side is not needed and actually trashy. I never bought it for people to know what it was, and that is what it has become.

And yes, it is not true couture!! It kinda bothers me that it is called that from time to time too!

Nevertheless, I still love the comfort of my Juicy and will buy the clothes that aren't only sporting the name, just something to wear around from time to time. :flower:

I never liked Juicy Couture, in France not many people I know are into it. Was JC important in the US?

Actually I was just at Harrods in London, and asked if they carried Juicy or knew of it, and not a person knew about it. Kinda weird but interesting to see that its pretty much an American thing.

Well, interesting,I think that contries like France,Italy,Spain and Britain(yes, look at the new stylish generetions)are by far the best trend-setters out there, you can feel their fashion and sense of style in every street and on every person wallking by.Europe has always been the most stylish continent, personally,I am not trying to offend Americans in anyway, the L.A runaways are just plain and pretty horrible with bright but boring colors and it is too vulgar so I don´t know why everyone is talijg about it,is it because of the Hilton sisters?Simpson sisters?...New York is soooo different, but American style is too overrated, even though, some designer´s clothes are like an eye-candy.

actually, i've seen them carry juicy at harvey nichols in london....and i've seen it also in a couple japanese and taiwanese department stores

I think Juicy is pretty much just an American thing- and I do agree that Europe is much more of a fashion capitol than the US... although whenever I'm there I only see the styles on the manequins and most of the people are dressed... ummm....

I never knew they were owned by Liz Claiborne but it makes SO much sense. Like the old logo way better, and I actually bought a Juicy t-shirt when the label first came out because it was a very good color and it was just a plain nice-fitting shirt.

I don't really ahve a problem with Juicy, it's just expensive basics, I think people get caried away with hating it and loving it. I think it's funny if you take it ironicly.

I think i ahve more of a problem with the wannabes that wear it than anything.

I read an interview with the designers, the blond one, Pam i think, sounded pretty coola ctually she said she got married in Yohji and her favorite band
was X.

I definitely agree... I have several Juicy garments, esp their velour track suits, and it's really the way you carry it... if you're wearing the whole suit, with Chanel Glasses, LV bag and matching LV sneakers, trust me, I'd hate you... but just using the hoodie with a cool top and some jeans and vintage boots, it's totally different... you can make juicy look like a juicy fart, or a juicy peach... you choose... hah

the ultimate american suburban housewife brand... :D

and it's not really a designer or a collection...it's just a brand...
like the GAP or old navy...

no way I didn't know that!!! I thought it was some tarty blonde californian woman with gel nails who owned Juicy Couture. Liz Claiborne makes a LOT of sense as welll though

The part about gel nails really made me laugh for some reason.

Unfortunately I have to agree:cry: L.A. designers tend to look very amature.

agreed... i think that it's possible to make anything work just so long as you know how to carry it off and make it look good, not cheap.

I really love that brand.. everything is just adorable. Specially the classic tracksuit in velour.

I guess its ok. It is bearable but everyone from pre-pubescent tweeners to over-the-hill wannabe milfs don this same exact track suit.

yeah thats true.. I'ts a lot of replicas out there, sad enough

I think they have some cute basics and kind of funny ironic stuff. Some of it is really bad though.

I like Pamela Skaist Levy , she dresses nicely and seems cool.
