This is a collaboration that actually sounds promising to me.

Topshop announce JW Anderson collaboration

Topshop have announced that they will collaborate with young British designer JW Anderson to create a capsule womenswear collection featuring jersey, denim, knitwear and outerwear pieces as well as items such as pencils, memory sticks, rubik's cubes, vintage magazines and photography books.

"I am very excited to collaborate with Topshop. It gives me the opportunity to reach a much wider audience with my designs. It has always been very important to me that my collections are made accessible to anyone interested in fashion and design." said Anderson.

The Irish-born designer has quickly established himself as a promising talent on the British fashion scene. After studying menswear design at the London College of Fashion he launched his menswear line in 2008, later introducing womenswear for autumn/winter 2010.

He is a current fashion darling owing to his much-lauded spring/summer 2012 collection which featured sought-after paisley-print daywear pyjamas. He is currently gearing up to show his men's collection at the first ever menswear-dedicated fashion week, London Collections: Men, which kicks off this Friday.

"The launch with JW Anderson is a new and exciting approach for Topshop to our collaborations," said Topshop's creative director Kate Phelan. "The capsule collection is a best of all his design ideas to date, a sort of must have wardrobe of covetable pieces by this unique designer. The interesting twist however is the cool collectable items that will make up the rest of this collection which JW Anderson has picked himself."

The debut collection will hit stores in September, and Topshop are already confident that it will be a hit as a second is slated to launch in early 2013.

that is wildly entertaining and borderline hideous...

it's in the area of so bad it's almost good...

:P

:flower:

there's been some images from the collab floating round facebook the last week or so and i really love the bat sweater.

softie,it's definitely very kitschy.....but doesn't border on the grotesque which pleases me.

Me too, for the bat sweater! I love tartans as well, so have a soft spot for those balloony tartan trousers.

Just popped over to the Oxford Street store along with heaps of other people! I really like the collection. The pieces are really variable in terms of quality, though. The t shirts' quality was underwhelming, but then again they are some of the less expensive items in the collection.
I really wanted to get the pinafore dress but after trying it on it just drowned me, even in the smallest size. It would look great on taller girls though!
I bought the black v-neck jumper, the short black kilt (which I might take back because, again, the fit is a little loose), a zebra iPhone cover and one of the little striped dresses in navy. Got some snap bands and badges for my little sister too. Love! <3 <3 <3

This is the first Topshop designer collaboration I've actually bought something from! I ordered the short version of the black kilt and can't wait for it to arrive. I'm between two sizes and I'm glad I ordered the smaller of the two reading the above comment though. Fingers crossed it fits! I would happily have ordered lots more, including one of the quilted paisley tops and a varsity jacket, but I'm trying to be sensible at the moment. This is definitely one of my favourite designer/high street collaborations though, and I like that it's not as over-hyped as a lot of other ones.
