Kanye West Douche Watch 2009: Taylor Swift Edition

This is being blown out of proportion by the media, no surprise there. I personally thought it was hilarious, vintage Kanye. Everyone is treating Taylor like she's some special needs 5 year old. Give me an effing break! I'm sure all this senseless publicity is helping her album sales. Sure Kanye has issues and he was rude, but why is such important news?

Anyway, I love the dude, he is a freaking genius. Taylor might be cute as button, but she's a flash in the pan.

I agree, Aoedele. I feel bad for Taylor, but ultimately I did laugh when it happened. Kanye, hate him or love him (I adore him), said it like it is. Taylor's video was unoriginal at best - nerdy girl in love with boy, boy is attached to popular girl, boy finally realizes the potential of nerdy girl and they live happily ever after. Beyonce's video is not the best of all time, but sure as hell beats Taylor's.

The internet is full of LOL pictures.:lol:

I haven't seen either of the videos, but I'm sure the point of the video as with the song is not its own innate quality, but the memories it evokes in everyone who hears it. Virtually everyone has been interested at one time or another in someone who was into someone else. The song reinforces that we were right, they should've been into us

I'm not an expert on Beyonce's music, but she seems to have a gift for inane pop. I don't even know what Beyonce was up for, but the songs of hers I know evoke the sound of bubblegum popping for me ...

I think that Kanye had absolutely no right to go up there and ruin Taylors moment!! I am not the biggest fan of either of them, but damn Kanye!!! Dont be such a douche and try to get attention, when its not YOUR TIME TO SHINE!!

I applaud beyonce for letting Tay come up there and have her time.
Kanye, that was messed up, and it was hecka embarrassing for Taylor. Your apology isnt sincere at all..

Beyonce's video was definitely better artistically. But the director and choreographer should get the awards

I love the video of her in the view, she's so gracious about the whole situation. Also, I kind of felt bad for Kanye in the Leno video and imo I think the question about his mother was a bit out of line. I sure as hell wouldn't want to go on tv and have someone bring up my deceased mother, especially when talking about something that would clearly disappoint her. Idk why but I felt that the questions was out of line and a bit too personal to ask

teja I'm loving the pics you posted!:flower:

And jenna-maria I have to agree - I pissed my pants when Obama made his off the cuff remark. This morning on Capital Radio everytime they played a song featuring Kanye, they played Obama's Jackass comment and I just could not stop myself from bursting out laughing in public!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I think I might make it my new Ringtone

I'm sorry, but I don't get this point. So everytime you're unhappy with the result, you should destroy the moment for the winner? The debate isn't about who should have been the winner - it's about whether it was right or not for a grown up man to go up on stage and destroy a 19 year old's moment to shine. And it's not btw. And it doesn't get any better just because Kanye has done it before to other people! Besides, isn't it the public who votes for the VMA? Then I don't see how Taylor didn't win fair and square. I could tell you at least 10 movies I think were better than Twilight last year and yet the movie took home practically 90% of awards from (popularity contests) awards like MTV Award, TCA etc. But if another artist had jumped on stage in the middle of Kristen Stewart's acceptance speech, saying how he/she prefered [insert name], I would have thought WTF too - and I really, really don't like Kristen Stewart!

He's so shallow and classless. It's just a stupid award. His mother failed at raising him imo.

I've said it once before, earlier on in this thread, but I'm going to say it again and agree with advo. No-one can say she did not deserve that award. It's a publically voted award. She got the most votes, making her the winner, and is therefor fully deserving of the award.

You may think Beyonce's video was better, like Kanye did, but it's totally unfair to say that Taylor didn't deserve the award when she, and her video won it fair and sqaure by the public vote.

I think it's really funny when people give a simple opinion and present it as fact. Tastes are not exact sciences She was the deserving winner because people voted for her, so that makes Kanye completely out off line.

No, it's voted by a group of judges I believe. The award voted for by the public is Best New Artist.
And the public is not always right (robert pattinson winning over dev patel at the teen choice awards, for example-with the same group of people who would have voted). None of the choices were good to begin with, and the people watching aren't exactly...exposed...to some really good music. Yes, someone had to have gotten the award, but it doesn't mean anyone truly deserved the title, Best Female Video.

Again, opinions are being stated as fact. 'The public is not always right?' It's the public's decision and so they can do with it as they wish to...? If Robert Pattinson won over Dev Patel then fair do's. He received more votes. Whether they were from teenage girls voting or whatever, he got more votes, and so he won. It is your opinion that he didn't deserve it and Dev Patel did. It is in no way a fact and it shouldn't be presented as one.

It is also your opinion that 'none of the choices were good to begin with', for you perhaps. I happen to believe there was some pretty deccent music choices in there. The music they are exposed to might not be good to you, again, that's to you and your choice of what you would say is 'good' music.

I think everyone gets lost in their own tastes. Taylor Swift's music isn't for me, it's not an album I would buy, but I'm not going to sit here and say it's not 'good' music simply because I personally do not like it.

Is Taylor seriously considered country? She sounds so pop. Girl sucks, but seems like a sweetheart. Who would want to hurt her. She is like a puppy.

Kanye is a douche, but makes good music.

People over look talent or over look douchey behaviour. Just depends on what a person will endure.

Regardless of if the awards were chosen by the public or by actual judges, so what? Let's say Taylor Swift didn't really deserve the award, IT IS STILL NOT ALRIGHT FOR KANYE TO RUIN THE MOMENT FOR HER!

I can only hope that he means what he says about truly being sorry about the incident. If he chooses to use this as a way to take a good look at himself, then at least he learned something.
