the thing I love about her is, underneath all the big-haired 80's-ness, she really does have this really distinctive style about her...sort of a melodramatic gyspy ballerina. I know she's english-born, but what is her ethnic background? I've seen some pictures of her with bulgarian folk troupes, etc...and I read somewhere that her family played a lot of traditional instruments, and so I'm just curious if there was a particular culture that her influence seems to come from.

I'm just always amazed by her songwriting, and the creativity and depth. she really is a true artist.
 
a nice thread! she really is a great artist. i love the children pictures you posted! though her style sometimes bothers me i think she can get away with a lot of things that others can't. and she has such a warmth about her.

I know her mother (who was a dancer) and a lot of her family, were Irish. Not sure about any other influences though...
 
Great thread and pictures strawberry. I love kate's voice. Just bring me back memories of the 80's ;)

i don't know about her style, but her music annoys the hell out of me. there's this one song that always plays in my local coffeehouse. i think it's called "running up that hill." :doh:

i just bought i-D, the feminine issue, and there is a six-page hommage to kate bush in it...by björk and sandrine pelletier.

Keep an eye and an ear open for the return of the wonderfully talented and fashionable Kate Bush, who's about to surprise us all, for she is still postponing the release of her new album. Kate Bush is as ever shrowded in mystery, since this eigth studio album was supposed to be released around this time already. We can't wait for her genius and inspiration, not only in the field of music, but also in the field of fashion. This woman's work touches us all in one way or the other, but for now, we'll just have to be patient.
