Kate Moss For TopShop

uh-oh, it seems like barneys might be jacking up the price on a few items

from wwd.

KATE'S FIRST LOOK: Kate Moss' collection for Topshop got its first official unveiling on the retailer's Web site when a microsite dedicated to the collection was launched Tuesday. And the moody shots of Moss and Irina Lazareanu, shot by Alasdair McLellan, reveal that Moss hasn't been shy about mining her own wardrobe for inspiration. There are — of course — skinny jeans, which will retail at Barneys New York from May 8 for $106; denim HotPants, at $102, and flat-fronted gray pinstripe pants and a matching mini waistcoat, all looks that Moss has been snapped in over the past year or two. There are also plenty of party-worthy pieces, including an asymmetric white cotton cocktail dress for $120; a navy bondage dress, with cutout details at the neck, for $158, and a plethora of fitted jackets in silk and cotton. Prices start at $20 for a cotton muscle-back T-shirt.

And, before the collection makes its debut in U.K. stores May 1, Topshop is giving its customers as much of a glimpse into Moss' creative process as possible — the microsite is made up of a montage of shots of Moss and Lazareanu at the look book shoot, interspersed with snippets of film of Moss, Lazareanu and hairdresserJames Brown, in which Moss loyally reveals that she's "shopped at Topshop for years."

Barneys will be selling topshop? will the quality be any different? Maybe the higher prices are becuase of customs taxes..

Yeah i agree with you, i bet it the taxes, all clothes from Oasis and morgan are more expenciver here than in France or the U.K.

it's just the same old ,same old top shop stuff .Very dissappointed

well, I asked asked the SAs at the Topshop stores in Singapore and they said that her line will be arriving in May. I'm presuming then that her collection will be sold at Topshop stores worldwide.
Would they be in the 1st of May too? Because I'm going to Singpoare for a couple of days and leaving on the 1st of May at night! I would love to buy something there. I'm from Sydney Australia so not a chance of buying anything from TOpshop here :(

I heard TopShop in Spain will be selling the collection too!! :woot:

I don't have any TopShop near me but maybe a couple of friends can help me ^_^

Aren't you guys in the least bit dissapointed? Some of the pieces are nice, but all they did was copy popular items from her wardrobe, I thought it would be more orignal...well, I suppose that was probably the point anyhow, to appeal to the masses. She'd probably just design her own line of clothing otherwise.

Well.. I didn't expect too much either...the only things I like are the purple and white dresses. And the purple one is too expensive so..

TopShop still doesnt ship to the US right? I emailed a year ago and asked, but maybe things have changed?

topshop ships to the u.s., but not to germany...

The pictures of the collection on the topshop site, is that the whole collection? Anyone know the prizes?

That's kind of what i was thinking. I mean, she said herself in the Vogue interview that the collection is based on a lot of the items in her wardrobe, which I'm guessing are mainly all designer or vintage. How many other designers would get away with so blatently copying other designers? I haven't looked at her collection to indepth but that black dress a few pages back is obviously a version of her Helmut Lang one worn a few years ago. Just a thought.

Kate says, in the April 1 Sunday Times (London) "I just went through my closet, basiclly. I was like, 'I'd love this, but altered like this,' or 'I'd love that, but in a pinstripe.'"

She says she'll never be a proper designer. "I can't sketch. And I can't make clothes." But she says that she knows how clothes should feel when she puts them on, and she knows how they should fit. She says that the collaboration is more or less Topshop copying her, but "whith my stamp on it, and direct"

She says that the future of the collection will be her going out and finding items she loves. "Going out and finding things -- not just taking from my closet as it is now, but what my dream closet would be."

I have never found Kate Moss to be stylish or interesting and don't understand why her "collection" for Topshop warrants such a big deal.

There was an article in last Friday's NY Post wich shows pieces from the collection next to items they were "inspired" by-ripped of from is more like it. :innocent: None of the items is original. It's all styles that people have been wearing for a while-the menswear vest, floral-print dress, halter neck dress, etc, etc. All things that can be had anywhere for less money. Is this what fashion has come to? :(
