Kate Moss For TopShop

MOSS ON DISPLAY: For Kate Moss, any old mannequin just won't do. The model is set to briefly appear modeling her Kate Moss Topshop collection herself in the window of the retailer's Oxford Street store in London when the line has a preview sale on Monday, according to reports Wednesday. While a spokesman for Topshop declined to comment on the reports, they're bound to add to the feverish hype that's been building in the British press, with a countdown to the launch in the Oxford Street store's window and the retailer's Web site set to debut what it calls "the ultimate guide to shopping Kate Moss Topshop." Customers would do well to read up on the line ahead of its introduction as the store is limiting purchases to five items per person. Or, given the strength of the pound against the dollar, fans can hop on a plane, fly to Manhattan and buy the line at Barneys New York.

so - who thinks she'll actually be there then?

she will be at barneys on the 8th...
she's the guest of honor at a private party at barneys...
from racked.com

Yes, Kate will appear at Barneys' flagship on Madison Avenue on May 8th for a private, invite-only launch party, but the collection will not be available to purchase until the next day (according to a Co-op staffer)

as for her showing up in the windows, that i think is rumour...

ok Ive narrowed down my wants to just 2 items. The floral print dress and the cropped skinny jeans comes to 90 quid...I begrudge paying that much in topshop but I do think Id get a lot of wear out of them. the dress will be great for my holiday and during the summer and the jeans are a great basic at a fairly reasonable price.

Im lucky to be close to 2 fairly big topshops and within an hour or so of all the ones in the city so I think Ill manage to get what I want. Hopefully it wont be major busy where Im heading.

oh and to those saying "buy vintage" well that comes at a price. the only places I can buy "vintage" [or second hand to most of us] is at a charity shop where all Im likely to find is a few moth holed polo shirts in a size 16 or topshop where I would have to folk out £45 for a cheese cloth floaty top [yes really]. some of us dont have the luxury at being near these great Aladdin Caves full of unusual, unique and fabulous vintage clothes. And we dont have unlimited budgets so we have to make do with all the imitations on the highstreet.

I just found some old photos of the floral tea dress which is also featured in the topshop collection. I guess this dress was shortened sometime in 2005 because its quite a bit longer here in 2003:

So its not an exact copy of the original afterall [ok, maybe it is ]

well she slashed it herself a few years back...so she kinda copied the design, but made it shorter.

^ i think it's actually even MORE over rated than M @ H&M

the shopping 'instrucions/rules' posted at preview page made me laugh so hard :D

MOSS BACKSTAGE: Topshop is not only giving consumers a slice of Kate Moss' wardrobe, it's letting them take a peek at the inner workings of the fashion industry. In the latest Kate Moss Topshop podcast on the retailer's Web site, filmed at the campaign shoot for the line, Ronnie Cooke Newhouse introduces herself to viewers as the creative director of the Topshop campaign, adding her role is to "try to interpret what Kate Moss wanted." Newhouse also explains the allure of the Kate Moss brand. "Whether she speaks or not, you get this sense from her that she's this great girl," said Newhouse. "She really understands what girls like, and the Kate Moss brand is really about a style icon creating clothes…and understanding fashion almost better than anyone."

Not surprisingly, Moss — who's known for not saying much in public — doesn't give a great deal away in the film, preferring to pose for candid shots with fellow model Irina Lazareanu, but she does let slip that she sees herself designing more than modeling in the future. — Nina Jones

Hurray!

story from thelondonpaper.com

Limit on Moss's Topshop collection

Shoppers snapping up the new Kate Moss fashion collection will be limited to five items each to prevent the clothes appearing on eBay, Topshop said.

Looks like you can only buy one of each style also
"Remember!

Due to considerable demand for this collection, and to be fair to all our customers, you will only be able to buy 1 of each style and can buy no more that 5 items at a time. So choose wisely!" from topshop newsletter

we are all fashion victims at some point. just because ppl don't buy into k line doesn't mean their fashion taste is better than anyone else in the world. and it's so weird why there're no ppl bashing tom ford for creating his own line? it's just only 3 piece suit and i guarantee you can find the same quality and still get the cheaper price!

Oh God.............I'm doomed! I'll have to keep dumping my bags at home and running back to the shop :D

The SA didn't mention any of this to me, though, when I asked her my zillion questions the other day so I'm hoping I'll be OK.

The hype...it's making me feel ill :(

I have to walk past two topshops on the way to uni , both of which have massive cardboard countdown things in the window.

Man, i would LOVE to be there in the topshop stores when all the resellers get to the counter with their items only to be told of the limit. that would be pretty sweet....i wonder if some of the resellers will hire tramps to stand in line with them and get some of the garments...
