Kate Moss For TopShop

i think there will be skinnies in the collection sinmply because there will be some stuff they might encourage her to do, even if she doesnt want to. from a business point of view, they know it will sell. i dont actually think topshop is the best store on the british high street and they are fabulously overpriced for what they are selling to you. of course i will still check it all out-kate know style like no other!

PHILIP GREEN is fed up of people turning their nose up at the contract he recently signed for Kate Moss to design a line for TopShop. Far from just a publicity ploy, it's a legitimate business move and she is "the best signing on the planet", he says. "You know that Louis Vuitton shoulder bag she's modelling now? How much do you think that costs? I'll tell you - £1,675," he told the Daily Mail. "And do you know how long the waiting list is? Six months. Leave it out. I wish people would give us our due – we would not have signed Kate Moss if we didn't have a team who knew what to do with her brand." Kate, meanwhile, who was shared the karaoke limelight with Pete Doherty at Nick Knight's starry Moet Tribute party last night and is rumoured to have been paid a seven figure sum to sign with TopShop, is now apparently planning to add maternity wear to her design repertoire.

I don't understand Mr.Green's comparison to LV? Other than the fact that kate moss sells which I don't think is news to anyone.

Star partners: Katy England and Bobby Gillepsie at their wedding

When Topshop boss Sir Philip Green signed up Kate Moss to design her own collection for a reported £3 million fee, it was called a major publicity coup.
But far from slaving away at the drawing board to come up with her own cutting-edge clothes, the 32-year-old supermodel has employed her best friend Katy England to do the work for her.

England, 40, is the acclaimed creative director of the Alexander McQueen fashion label and fashion director of Another Magazine, and is married to Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie.

And her involvement throws fresh light on the shock resignation of Topshop brand director Jane Shepherdson - ranked by the trade magazine Drapers in 2005 as the most powerful woman in British fashion - just two weeks after Moss's appointment in September.

At the time, both Green and Shepherdson insisted the parting was amicable, despite speculation that she quit over Green's failure to consult her properly over his recruitment of Moss.

But questions will now doubtless be asked about how the decision to use a ghost designer impacted on Shepherdson, who remained so steadfastly loyal to the Topshop brand for more than two decades.

More worryingly for Green, the involvement of England - part of Moss's hedonistic party crowd - will raise questions about the propriety of using the model and her clique to endorse Topshop's clothes to the millions of teenage girls who shop there.

While mother-of-two England has maintained a lower profile than her publicity-seeking friends Sadie Frost and actress Davinia Taylor, her husband - the father of her children Wolf, four, and Lux, two - has often courted controversy.

Just months ago on a Channel 4 show Gillespie openly endorsed cocaine, saying: "I used to do loads of it. Me and my mates used to get sniffed up and play table tennis at my house.

"That's the way to do it ... Cocaine and table tennis - it's a great recreational activity. That's when I'm at my best. You know what I mean?"
But a fashion insider said: "Katy is highly regarded in the fashion industry as she's well established and works on some very prestigious projects. She's known for being industrious and committed.

"Unlike some of Kate Moss's clique, she tries to stay out of the limelight and is happy working behind the scenes."

Moss has hired England to work with her on previous contracts, and in July she was the star attraction at England and Gillespie's wedding in Betley, Staffordshire, where she read out a poem and spent £20,000 flying the couple to Amsterdam to watch a Rolling Stones concert as a wedding gift.

I'm sat here trying to be apathetic and cynical about it all but I bet I will love it. I feel less like a pathetic little Topshop clone/devotee now because it's not actually going to be designed by her , obviously they've just paid her to use the name Kate Moss. She has given them enough free advertising over the years.

Whoa! The moment I saw Kathy Englands wedding dress I thought of McQueen SS06? or was it 05? the chess one ... there was a dress just like that one ... and Mr Gillespie used to date Ms Moss ... talking about incestuous friendships!

Still ... from what I just saw .. Im happy! VERY happy!

not bad at all. they could have come up with a much worse ghost designer!

in fact, im pleased.

Hmmmm no doubt Kate will still have some input in to the collection but more of a "yes I like it" or a "Hell no" kinda thing. I'm looking forward to seeing what the results are :-)

I just took a conde nast survey for vogue and it seems that Kate's collection for topshop will be presented in the march issue of UK Vogue, along with an exclusive intreview of the model... she will also be on the cover, wearing a black mini halter dress which I guess it is one of hers... the dress looked awful to be honest butI'm not sure whether it was truly hers... it's just my guess...
