British actresses Keira Knightley and Dame Judi Dench will be nominated for Academy Awards next year, a leading US film magazine has predicted.
Knightley will be up for best actress for her role in Pride and Prejudice, Premiere monthly has claimed.
Dench, meanwhile, will be recognised for her performance in Mrs Henderson Presents, according to the magazine's early list of Oscar predictions.
The nominations for the 2006 Academy Awards will be announced on 31 January.
Other British actors Premiere expects to make the cut include The Constant Gardener co-stars Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz, the latter in the best supporting actress category.
Charlize Theron, who was named best actress in 2004 for Monster, is tipped to land another nomination for her role as a miner facing sexual harassment in North Country.

The Wallace and Gromit film Curse of the Were-Rabbit is seen as a frontrunner in the best animated feature category.

Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line will figure prominently, it claims, with nominations for best picture, director James Mangold and its stars Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.
The magazine has named Ang Lee's gay cowboy drama Brokeback Mountain, Steven Spielberg's Munich, George Clooney's Good Night, and Good Luck and Memoirs of a Geisha as the other likeliest best picture nominees. Peter Jackson's King Kong remake and the film version of the Producers musical are among several upcoming titles considered "dark horses". Last year Premiere predicted four of the five best picture nominees correctly.

^ I think it would be worth it just to see what she'd wear to the event given her recent outfits. She's been looking so devine. *dreamy sigh*

^there's always like 10 actresses tipped to get an oscar, and then but with 5 nominations there's usually 1 suprise nomination. Tough competition this year, Reese (who seems to be a big fave), Keira, Claire Danes, Rachel Weizz, Charzlie Theron, I think I heard Joan Allen, and probably Zang Ziyi is the buzz going around. If allt he King's Men comes out in time, Kate Winslet will probably get one too and she damn well deserves an Oscar already <3

Agree 100% with you on that. She's fabulous! I can't believe she wasn't nominated for Finding Neverland. *scoffs*

I loved her in that but I also loved her in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind so I didn't mind that she got nominated for that... Both are excellent movies!! :)

ehh I saw Million Dollar Baby, and I personally don't think Hillary Swank deserved that second Oscar!!! I also saw Maria Full of Grace, and Catalina Sandino Moreno was AMAZING! I would have given the Oscar to either Kate or Catalina, though I don't know about the other two preformances but based on the three that I did see...ugh why.

I'd love her to win an Oscar! But i'd love any of the nominees too...:P

Oh yeah! I completely brain-farted on that one. Loved that movie too. Everyone in it was fabulous. I saw Million Dollar Baby too and I didn't see the big hoopla about it. They should have given it to Kate. I think Hilary is a great actress, but come now. Plus you can't talk with a freakin tube in your neck!

I love Keira but I don't think she is Oscar ready -especially not for the monstrosity that was Pride and Prejudice. Anyway I'd rather her over Reece or Kate Winslet :ninja:

Cool. I didn't know it was out yet. I saw the previews but didn't know it was actually playing. I'd like to see Keira doing other Jane Austen films. I think she would make a good Fanny Price.

Avoid it avoid it! It is painfully bad. I am doing an English degree and I have been doing Austen since I was yay high and I can assure you it is a travesty of a movie. I am not even an Austen loyalist and I still can't bear it. I do think she would make an awesome Fanny Price but I loved Frances O'Connor in the movie version so I am not sure Keira could better her. Frances is so... feisty.

Ahh, a fellow English major. With respect to Jane Austen, I think a different director could have done wonders with this version of Pride and Prejudice, although I don't think it was terrible for what it was. I'm sure it is difficult to cram however many pages of the ever-complex Victorian novel into two hours, and Joe Wright did an OK job, IMO. As far as Keira goes, I thought she was fabulous. I much prefer her over Jennifer Ehle (1995's BBC version). My biggest qualm with the film was the very uninteresting Matthew MacFadyen. I spent the entire movie trying to recast the role of Darcy in my head (and trying very hard not to think immediately of Colin Firth).

Has she ditched her old boho style for a new more polished look?

^I prefer her boho look, to me the way she dresses now she looks like some rich snobby torphy wife and she's on 20 she's to young for that!
