Keira Knightley To Play Effie Gray In ‘Untouched’

looks like Emma Thompson and Dakota Fanning have some competition. With production already underway and pre-selling at the American Film Market on their project “Effie” (with footage apparently being shown on an iPad to potential buyers), a rival picture is in the works, because no good idea in Hollywood only gets used once.

Thompson On Hollywood reveals that Keira Knightley—who currently suffers from sexual peccadillos in the forthcoming “A Dangerous Method”—will once again traverse similar thematic territory in another Effie Gray movie, this one appropriately titled “Untouched.” The film centers on the strange-but-true story about the wedding night between Victorian artist, architect, poet and political thinker John Ruskin and his wife, Effie Gray. Ruskin was long infatuated with Gray and married her when she was 17. However, when it came time to consummate their marriage, something so reviled Ruskin that Gray remained a virgin until after they divorced and she remarried his protege, painter, John Everett Millais. While it has never been established just what disgusted Ruskin to the point he refused to have sex with his wife, theories over the years have speculated it might have been pubic hair or menstrual blood.


This version has been penned by Aleksandra Crapanzano with Brazilian director Andrucha Waddington (”House Of Sand”) at the helm. Casting is still underway for the picture which is in the midst of pre-sales at AFM with Ealing Metro International repping the picture. Certainly, if this comes together it will be the starrier of the two versions (sorry Dakota). But hey, who knows which version will actually be better, but between the two of them, one of them is bound to be good at least. Right?


No word yet on when this might lens and we’d wager Warner Bros., who recently made it known they want Knightley for “Akira,” will be watching closely. It would be another interesting move by Knightley who after doing her duty on the “Pirates Of The Caribbean” films, has admirably not been in any great hurry to line up another franchise.

her pout/cheek sucking in the newest pictures is ridiculous. I also dislike her hair like that, it's too severe for her angular face. I think she is much too stunning for a dress like that which does absolutely nothing for her.

I really love her hair this length, but I think she rarely goes wrong with her hair. I love it long and I loved the Domino cut too. I've seen a teeny bit of what she's doing on Anna Karenina, and I know I'm biased, but it's looking really good. She neither sucks her cheeks in or puts on a pout when she poses for photos. I've never understood where that comes from, do people honestly think that's a train of thought she has when she's infront of a camera?
