I get the impression that people think she was over-acting, but she was a hysteric after all!

There's a difference between acting like you're a hysteric and making people believe you really are. Her acting in this is so blunt and stereotypical that you simple can't connect to her character because you can tell it's all an act.

She was very good n ADM. Quite possibly her best performance yet - although not her best film overall.

I think her lack of vanity (at least that's the impression I get) is one of her most attractive qualities.

Cronenberg has said that they finished filming those scenes several days ahead of schedule because she was able to give hm exactly what he wanted so quickly.

They've got Jung's actual notes made when he first encountered Sabina - and apparently her actual behaviour was far more over the top than what's in the film.

I haven't seen the film but I look forward to seeing it. Keira's peformance seems to have drawn a divided reaction based on the reviews I have read both of critics (at Rotten Tomatoes) and of audiences (at IMDB and even in this thread). When a performance creates such a stir - and such mixed reactions - then imo it is definitely worth a look!
