Keira Knightley

It's not just brits - remember Britney walking all around LA even in and out of public washrooms in her bare feet?

Saying that, eeewwww Keira. Her feet are filthy - it's not sanitary or safe to be walking around like that.

I wonder how much effort it takes for her to get those stains off of her feet? It's take heaps of scrubbing. At least she looks cute in her dress.

I think you'd be surprised about how many people go barefoot. On another forum they did a survery, and about half the board confessed that they liked to go barefoot at times.

There's also a sort of a culture for going barefoot. Some people treat it almost like a lifestyle. Similar to the way some people are vegetarians, some people are barefooters. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barefoot if you're curious.

 I wouldn't walk around barefoot unless I was on vacation and was walking on the beach.

She looks lovely in the Chanel Ad, but it just doesn't suit her to be there IMO.

Interesting. Still unsanitary, though.

The Chanel ads are perfection though I would agree that sometime she seems like an odd choice for Chanel. As sophisticated as she can look on occasion her style strikes me as much more bohemian than that of the traditional Chanel girl. She doesn't have the 24/7 sophistication of an Anna Mouglalis nor the coquettish charm of Vanessa Paradis. Keira seems (at least to me) like she'd be much more comfortable in some Temperley or Miu Miu. Especially in candids where she seems to go for very young, light dresses and quirky touches like oxfords or beanie hats.

That bone structure is incredible though and she'll always look lovely dressed up but I don't see her as a Chanel woman persay.

am i the only one who thinks that she looks kinda wrong in the Chanel ads? I dont like them :ermm:

You are def not the only one who thinks so.

Im not a Keira fan (nor Im a hater), but to me Chanel was always associated with elegance & class. I dont want to offend any Keira fan, but her look is way to simple and boring and just not on that high level.

I think she looks very pretty and well-suited to those Chanel ads. Maybe the overall look is kind of expected, but she looks so lovely. Love the first one.

maybe she is fed up with those expensive footwears anymore

Class from beginning to end And one would not expect any less from Chanel's new advertising campaign for "Coco Mademoiselle". Chosen for her ability to modernise the brand, yet stay true to its roots, Keira Knightley epitomises all that Chanel embodies. Following in the dainty footsteps of Nicole Kidman, who featured in the most expensive advert ever made, for Chanel No. 5 in 2003, Keira Knightley features in this, their second international advertising campaign. Descending from the rooftops of Paris amidst a backdrop of the Eiffel tower and a shimmering sunset, Knightley tiptoes barefoot into a luxury apartment, with a jazzy rendition of 'L Is For The Way', sung by Joss Stone. The advert may only last 60 seconds, but you are almost instantly immersed in a world of luxury and what Knightley herself referred to as "unbelievable decadence".

She was invited to give her own input into the project while a team of artistic geniuses re-created the 22-year-old as a young and entirely convincing Coco Chanel. The look was refined over a long period of time and a ruby red silk gown was chosen as well as a subtle diamond necklace, a classic combination, harking back to Chanel's own era. Once the style had been perfected, filming began and lasted six days in the studio.

However, much of the action takes place outside, in several of Paris' most glamorous locations, notably
Place Vendome where Coco Chanel lived for more than thirty years at the Ritz hotel. Several poses were deliberately engineered to mimic those of Coco Chanel, and we see Knightley don a classic bowler hat and white shirt in a number of scenes.

Thirty minutes later, once the behind-the-scenes film has ended and one has a real insight into the world of Coco Chanel and the vision behind this new venture. Knightley would not have looked out of place in the 1940s or 50s, and it is for this reason that she was chosen; to depict a timeless chic that will never fade.

Modern, young and fresh, not forgetting the class, this project is indeed special but not wholly unique. Joining Keira and a host of other celebrities are Kate Winslet as the new face of "Tresor" by Lancome and Eva Green, representing "Midnight Poison" by Christian Dior.

I also think that there is always been a sense of mystery about each celeb that has represented Chanel (Vanessa Paradis, Catherine Deneuve, Nicole Kidman etc...). I think Keira lacks this.

I don't know - they obviously want to attract a younger crowd and there aren't many young female actresses/celebs who would be suitable. Keira is very well-known, an oscar nominee, not known for any embarassing off-screen antics, usually acquits herself nicely when it comes to fashion choices and can do modern or period looks very well. I can't think of many other choices for Chanel.

As it stands I think she looks lovely in the ads.

Well I'm just hugely glad it was Keira they chose for Chanel rather than Lindsay Lohan. :p

oh god!
so true^^^ keira might not be 1st choice to some, but really, considering the options in "young hollywood" she and maybe a couple others stand out for their ability to not constantly make a fool of themselves.

Totally.

Well, they certainly didn`t attract me by this ad and Im young, just a month older that Keira.
I really dont care if there is some huge celebrity or unknown model, as long as the ad looks beautiful, refined and ehem... aristocratic in some sense.
Maybe its just I dont respect Keira as an actress much, but Im sure she`s very wrong for such a brand.

The dress and hair were beautiful, though.
