Keira Knightley

That picture of Keira and her mother is taken in the garden square opposite where she lives. My step father used to live in the very same square. It really is delightful :)

And my i add, another pair of Mary Janes! Keira has the best shoes. Are they ID as Chanel? The writing on the scan isn't clear. Thanks! :)

I know it doesn't exactly sound like her, especially compared to how she was singing in POTC: AWE. But the way she was singing definitely relates to the style of the time. Her voice reminds me a lot of a higher pitched Lena Horne.

That scan is gorgeous! Watch Keira turn into like, the exact copy of Sharman when she reaches that age. She looks so much like her mum.

Grrr I can't find my camera but I will be moved in and unpacked by Tuesday so if there isn't a scan by then I shall most definitely snap a picture for you all! Sorry about that, I feel bad for letting you know I had it now, such a tease!!

Kylenrose thank you so much for the good luck with the move, here's hoping it'll go smoothly and my camera/InStyle get there in one piece

I've been having an odd fascination with Knightley recently. She is a classic beauty.

Keira is so lovely -- she looks so much like her mother, too. They're both attractive women, and I'm sure she'll look just like Sharman when she's older.

Also, that is Keira singing. I was really surprised myself -- it doesn't sound much like her, then again you can tell she conscientiously changed her voice to suit the singing style of that era. Either way I think it's impressive, considering. Apparently she had to sing it live during the filming -- or so I heard.

That's surprising. I thought she couldn't sing? I remember reading something about her not being able to carry a tune, which is why she didn't get Phantom of the Opera.

I don't know exactly why she didn't land the Phantom of the Opera, but what you said is true (about not being able to sing) because I read that article too, and I believe she's the one who said it. I'm sure if that's the case then that had something to do with it -- Phantom of the Opera is a big film/musical that requires a lot of vocal power from the lead actress, and she probably wasn't up for it. But for 'The Edge of Love' where Keira sings, I believe she only sings once in the film, and that the song was written for her vocal range, etc. She said she had to do a lot of training and voice work to prepare for it after all.

She sings at least three songs in The Edge of Love and none of them were written for the film. I suppose they might have chosen them with her vocal range in mind.

But what she said about the Phantom audition was "I absolutely knew I couldn't sing it", so she might only have been referring to the song she had to perform there.

And we all know the answer to this- who is Keira's biggest critic? Herself. She worked with a vocal coach and probably discovered that she could do better than she ever thought- I am excited to hear the other two songs.

There's a world of difference between that song she's singing and opera. Most people can carry a tune that's simple enough, especially if they have coaches and all that jazz, but opera is a whole different game. Even Emmy didn't hit that infamous high note in the phantom song. Don't get me wrong I loved her in it, but that one part was a disappointment.

I'm excited to see this. I think she did a good job. Better than my horse a$$ would have.
