Keira Knightley tops 'Last Night' cast

Scribe Massy Tadjedin making directorial debut

Keira Knightley, Eva Mendes, Sam Worthington and Guillaume Canet are set to star in "Last Night." Pic marks the feature directing debut of Massy Tadjedin, who wrote the script. Gaumont and Nick Wechsler Prods. are teaming on the project, which begins production in New York next month. Gaumont is financing the film, will handle worldwide sales and will distribute in France. Wechsler produces.
Story follows a married couple, apart for a night while the husband takes a business trip with a colleague to whom he’s attracted. While he’s resisting temptation, his wife encounters her past love.
"When I first met Massy, it was obvious to me that she had to be a director," Wechsler said. "Last Night" provided "a compelling way to establish her filmmaking voice."
Tadjedin also scripted "Wednesday" for DreamWorks and has been writing an untitled project for Steven Spielberg.
Gaumont CEO Christophe Riandee said, "I fell in love with this very modern love story. This shows our determination to go forward with high-end English-speaking productions."

I doubt it will be released in 2008 unless they finish it that quickly. I'm really excited for her actually- and have you SEEN Guillaume Canet? Hot damn. Sam Worthington is pretty hot too. It sounds interesting and thank GOD it is modern. Now everyone who keeps complaining about that has gotten their way!

Oh- and if it shoots in New York? Caaaandids, my fellow fans. Cannnndids.

Sad but good news is- they are releasing it in more theaters next week and the week following- chances are big, big cities get it this week and then it trickles down!

I know, I'm just impatient. I'm hoping it will be in the theatre near me in the next 3-4 weeks. It always takes a while for the movies to open here. I just wish I could have seen it on opening day in the US. Sigh. Well, that just means the anticipation is building more.

And yes, more CANDIDS when she's shooting in NY!! I look forward to that movie.
