Keira Knightley

I still have never finished watching Atonement. I fell asleep during the first twenty minutes. :ninja:

King Lear.... that's a difficult movie to do well.
and interesting casting too (she doesn't look anything like naomi or gwyneth, at least both of those have blonde hair).
hmmm..... but she does like her period movies doesn't she!???

the duchess is keira's best picture to date. she is superb in it, really superb, and even though she is in it for the whole thing, quite literally she is in every scene, you don't get tired of her. if she doesn't get an oscar nod i will be shocked and annoyed. she was amazing in the duchess, really.

You really believed her, which is a new thing for keira... you really thought she was georgiana. Her emotion seemed real, and that's what makes this so incredible, because some of the themes of the duchess would be foreign to her (or any other 20 something actress), but you believed her emotions when she was reacting to certain things. I was blown away, and i'm not even the biggest keira fan. the duchess certainly changed my opinion of her.

so i whole-heartedly recommend it. :)
(hehe long post, but it's all true!)

you took the words right out of my mouth! :D
i felt the same way about how believable she projects Georgiana to the audience... which is one of the reasons why she's getting critical acclaim for her performance.
you really felt her emotions. it's genuine!
i was blown away too. it made me respect her more as an actress. not that i never respected her before, but this performance made her top of her game. you can't get any better than that. she reached it. she gets better with age. truly!

As for Pirates 4 I really want her to join Depp :(
I'm hoping she'll change her mind before production sets ..(crosses fingers)

I want to see The Edge of Love. I've seen some UK trailers where she sings!

As for Atonement, i wished she was in more scenes. I would've love to see her choke the little sister, though -- (in my mind)
:)

I agree with both smartarse and peachescream, i think that she does get better and better!
i have only enjoyed her in Atonement, despised her in P&P, the Jacket and Domino. But fun in Pirates. But she looks as though she deserves an oscer nod, but I want Nicole Kidman to win for Australia !!! Cant wait for that movie!:)

I have not seen the Duchess yet but cant wait

yes, smartarse she gets better and better with experience, a sign of someone with true acting potential. she is going from strength to strength, which is why these new films of hers both intrigue and worry me at the same time. King lear is a difficult, difficult film to do well, primarily because of the length of the play itself but also because of the themes and interpretations of characters/scenes... although i think with the right director it could be a hit. Similarly, that f scott fitzgerald one sounds interesting, rather along the lines of the T.S Eliot biopic with miranda richardson in it... f scott fitzgerald and his wife zelda had a really dynamic relationship too. could have scope for her to really show her acting skills.

and, mmorti04 i can't wait to see Australia either! Baz Lurhmann is a great director, in my opinion, if highly stylised, but i think this movie will be a little different from Australia. Nicole was great in Moulin Rouge with him, so hopefully the magic strikes up again!

Looks like this oscar race will be interesting though, what with anne hathaway getting such good reviews for rachel getting married, meryl streep the tour de force in Blindness, and kate winslet (who is long overdue for an award) in revolutionary road... i'm glad it's such a strong year for women, and if keira gets nominated it will be a real honour to be in such good company!

slightly off topic, sorry... :D

Meryl Streep wasn't in Blindness and that movie sucked.
I finally got to see The Dutchess today and I agree with all the positive things people are saying. One of her best to date. Fantastic costumes too.

oh sorry, my bad, the movie is called Doubt. i got it confused there for a minute with blindness... it's got phillip seymour hoffman in it as well, it's supposed to be amazing, but it hasn't come out yet.

Wait are they legit doing Pirates 4? Is Orlando signed on?

I actually don't mind that Keira is probably going to be type-cast in period pieces, I love her to death in them!

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, so I thought I'd share. I got it from a user on LJ that wants to remain nameless.

^ There's a whole lot more where that came from.

Celladoor & kellian, thanks very much for these, they're gorgeous!

You're welcome!

Apologies that I couldn't post them all in one go. The forum wouldn't let me and my connection goes a little fuzzy when I attempt to upload things, enjoy anyway!

As much as I love the Glamour shoot I would die of happiness if we ever got the outtakes from the Tatler shoot, I loved that one! (Though I do think I might be one of the very few that did!)

I don't want there to be another My Fair Lady, I feel like that's only a one time film and nobody can remake it. I think Audrey Hepburn did an impeccable job.

I doubt the film will be as long as the play, though, they almost never are (which is one of the reasons that Kenneth Branagh's "Hamlet" is so singular) :flower:. And, if I remember it correctly, besides Cordelia's scene in the first act she doesn't have much to do until near the end. The other two daughters have at least twice as many lines. So it's a good way for Keira to further flex her acting chops without being overwhelmed. I'm pretty excited about the Paltrow-Watts casting! This makes up for Naomi not getting Narcissa Malfoy in the new Harry Potter .

I'm disappointed about Hopkings getting Lear. He's way past his acting prime and I'm so so so worried he's going to overdo it :ninja:. It's too bad they couldn't get Sir Ian McKellen to do it again (although that would be a bit repetitious since his Lear wasn't too long ago). Ciaran Hinds, maybe, if they aged him or John Noble, the man who played Denethor (the deranged King of Gondor) in "Return of the King".
