Call it a case of art imitating life imitating art imitating life, ad infinitum.
That's right: Lauren Conrad's novel about a regular gal whose life changes when she stars on a reality show is going to be made into a movie.
The producers of the megahit movie series Twilight, Temple Hill Entertainment, have acquired the rights to turn L.A. Candy into a motion picture, Variety reports.
The novel, which came out in June, is about a 19-year-old girl who moves to Hollywood and ends up as the lead in a reality series. In other words, it's basically inspired by the real-life adventures of Conrad, who began starring in Laguna Beach around the age of 19, then got her own show two years later. The Hills, of course, is a reality show about a group of attractive Los Angeles young adults who go about their lives as if they're living a soap opera.
In July, a source close to Conrad, now 23, told PEOPLE that she was fielding offers to produce a film from her bestselling book (the first in a three-book deal with HarperCollins) but that she didn't want to act in it.
No word yet whether the presumed L.A. Candy sequel will follow the travails of a former reality-show starlet who writes a novel that gets turned into a movie.
