Long Necklaces

Is it just me or do long necklaces, whether theyre thin or thick (as in big beads) strangle you? It becomes so heavy that my neck really hurts! I do love them though.

Also where can you get gold colour long necklaces a la Sienna

Also what about pearl long necklaces? And with the knotted pearl necklace is that tied up or does it come like that?

I really like long necklaces. I actually think they're the most comfortable as well. I have an amber one that I wear all the time.

I've been making longer necklaces lately. I did a somewhat similar one in earth-tones but haven't photographed it yet. The earthtone one is actually much prettier.

Here's that earthtone one as modelled by my 1912 Acme Adjustable Dress form (which is also modelling a circa 1950 silk shantung blouse which had belonged to my great-grandma Elly).

Some detail thumbnails so you can get a better look at the beads and how they are strung together. Making the little brass links gave it a really cool swing and flow.

I tend to pair this up with a couple of other necklaces that have a more formalized pattern...one is a choker, the other comes to about the middle of my sternum, and this long one comes to maybe 2" above my bellybutton.

I think long necklaces are quite elegant. I especially like the way the necklace drapes over the clavicles on a woman.

missy t, i love the look too. I looked everywhere for one that won't get stained easy but not so I had to go to Tiffany's to get it..and I found a long one in Marks and Spencer!! Can you believe?? It's gold plated and I got a lot of compliments on it. It reaches just above my navel.
