Louis Vuitton S/S 08 Paris

well this is super fun

i don't mind some kind of entertainment to drag me out of various marvellous shows to take a breath

Thats precisely what it is. Something you laugh at for a few seconds then you just forget about. :yuk: <<< This emote BELONGS in this thread.

thanks for the pics, Faith.
I actually like it a lot after seeing the entire collection. it's an extension or finer version of the MJ show and the bags are just to die for (and think about the waitlist and the LV profit!).
The color palette is very interesting partially due to how they styled it. He continued with the tailoring from certain men's wear (there is one skirt from the current collection which I really adore). Transparancy was done even two yrs ago but he is executing much better...let alone the details. LV RTW never disappoint me when I see them in real life! (not the price though...)

marc, darling.

the minute i saw the first photo i thought "people are going to just hate this"

as much as i loved it all (i was a huge fan of his own label as well) i'm really struggling with who the vuitton customer is now. when i think of vuitton i think of luxury, wealth, and sleekness (which i did not get from this collection at all)

it reminded me of girl, interrupted and one flew over the cuckoo's nest. it's a little too similar to the mj show especially with the dress that alana zimmer is wearing but the heels look so promising.

it's as if now that marcs sober his clothes have become his drug trip.

meet the number 1 louis vuitton customer in the phillipines

(i'm not joking)

she's actually nice in real life (as in nice person)... not sure about this photo though.

i really love what marc has done for both his own collection and vuitton for this coming spring, everything is extremely carefree, yet detailed...the happy, upbeat feeling from these looks is contagious imo

after seeing the entire collection...i like it as well...
especially the last section with the darker palette..
i see some very wearable pieces in there...

like caffeine said, lv rtw looks alot better in real life than it does in the shows...

I love the shoes! The collection isn't too great though. It looks like a Marc Jacobs collection and not a Louis Vuitton collection. I don't get the whole nurse thing either.

hmm.. Am I the only who feels this is kinda Prada F/W 07-08? With a little Betsey Johnson S/S 08 and a whole lot of thrift store thrown in.

The songs are a remix of Kanye West's "Stronger" and Daft Punk's "Technologic"

The show itself was like a 12 minute long audio/visual assault. The screeching music, the blinding colors, the chopped up garments...I HATE when he does the whole layered thing because it usually goes too far, to the point that you can barely see the pieces and are stabbed in the eye by a mess. My biggest complaint though, is how similar Vuitton has become to MJ. Since f/w 06 the collections seem to be coming from the same place with only a slight amount of difference in them. It used to be that the Marc Jacobs girl was that effortlessly cool downtown chick and Vuitton girls were the cool but sophisticated uptown chick. Now they're exactly the same.

I'm not saying it's easy to come up with two completely seperate concepts for two major collections each season...but I'd like to see some effort at seperating the two labels.

That said, there were some pieces I loved among all the pieces I hated (seriously, lots of them looked like they could've been glued together, and they may as well have been) But the lineup of spraypainted "nurse" dresses were adorable, there was a really pretty dusty rose pleated chiffon circle dress and a greenish gold sequin skirt on Anne-Catherine Lacroix that was gorge.

Unfortunately there was just too many messy pieces for my taste, it was deconstruction done very, very poorly.

Best bags to come down an LV runway in a while though, and the high heel pumps were killer.

Having difficulty deciding whether or not I like any of it because the layering is so ridiculous and extreme. It's a mess when looked at from afar. It's been said already, but I'm looking forward to seeing the pieces worn off the runway. I don't think I'll be able to judge until then.

I think no matter how harsh and brutal the reviews of a certian fashion journalists are,its such nonsene to ban them, its their freaking job!

ITA.

Journalists can't be epected to only sing the praises of fashion houses, regardless of what they do. What on earth would be the point of that, for anyone; especially the designer?

Just like wise people, wise businesses learn from their critics. You can't please all the people all the time, but I think you can learn a lot from a well-considered critique, from someone who knows the score.

I don't think banning people does the image of the house any favours, either, it makes them look petty and over-sensitive.

At the end of the day, they're a huge fashion house, they should respond to any criticism with grace. :)
