Louis Vuitton S/S 2010 : Lara Stone by Steven Meisel

^marc should forget grunge now and do high fashion instead , the resort is a good collection where as this is AWFUL

the second are better but no are the spirit of Louis Vuitton and this style e image watch many time of Meisel i think Lara is great but the image no feel the personality of her

I love how people judge campaigns by saying "this is so not [insert brand here]!". I'm sure Louis Vuitton has a huge marketing and communication team, in addition to a creative director, and if these ads are going to be published then they obviously fit their vision of the brand.
Just because it doesn't fit your idea of what the brand should be doesn't mean it's not right for the brand...
Now the fact customers (but how many people here really are LV customers?) don't see a brand the way it's marketed is another issue.
This mostly happens with Gucci (the Tom Ford/Frida debate) but not exclusively...

Love the new shot as well. Good stuff.

That's a valid argument for, say, Lanvin or Balmain, both of which are far from aspirational brands because of their pricing/product line, but for Gucci or Louis Vuitton it's less so.

The thing is, Vuitton markets at the low end (the Speedy/wallet/bauble end) more than they do at the high end. I'm sure they make far more money off of the masses than the customers who only custom order trunks. (And that customer isn't likely to be swayed by any ad campaign anyway.)

As i dislike the collection and Lara, it's a nice surprise. I almost hear the twitter of the birds.
The campaign is much better than the show was...

These advertisements are very Steven Meisel and very Vogue Italia, but I'm not too sure they are very Louis Vuitton.

I love Steven Meisel but I don't love his aesthetic for a house like Louis Vuitton. Mert&Mercus worked because they have an innate sense of the commercial and a sense of vibrancy. This is what Vuitton is all about in a way. They are not toned down the way Meisel is.

I don't understand why she is in a forest lying down on moss with doves? Spring 2007 would have suited this concept, but Spring 2010? Wasn't it about globalization, consumer culture and Japanese style? It's a very strange mixture of aesthetics. To me this campaign is a little confused.

Couldn't agree more with everything you said.

The ads without the entire context are nice enough but when you think about it, put all those things you said together it is indeed confusing.

I was thinking about that too. Having such collection and taking it back to the forestal basics doesn't really seem a best idea. I'd rather see it presented in some kitchy and cartoony way.

With juicy and rich of course :P

Absolutely in looove with these ads:heart:, Lara looks so lovely and perfect in the clothes and the setting is so serene and love the doves, so excited to see the rest:D

like the new one a lot better.Lara's face is gorgeous.

Ah!!! Absolutely love the second one posted! It has a Vogue Italia feeling in it. ^_^ Lara just looks beautiful and sensational in these. I am loving those doves! :D^_^ Can't wait to see the whole campaign!

I don´t like it at all, it looks so dirty and messy.
I love Meisel and Lara but this is ugly. And the shoes...

I just received the full campaign images in super HQ.. I'll be posting them in a sec..
BTW, Lara looks amazing!

I know right? I was expecting Dolce & Gabbana to be the first to release their campaign... but Vuitton is faster..
