Yes Marc Vuitton was really great. His only collection that didn't translate well IMO was his spring 2013. It was well made but so difficult to wear!

Totally right about Nicolas's early clothes for Vuitton. I have some pieces from his first three collections so far. They are great but overall the fact that he tries to mix his world and the craftmanship of Vuitton in his clothes makes them stiff.
Half of the spring 2015 collection was really stiff.

I think the resort and this one are going to be more wearable.

But on a side note, i really think that his bags are more successful than Marc's bags. I hated Marc's bags as much as i love Nicolas ones.

Nicolas Ghesquiere does not design anything but the fashion show RTW collections. He doesn't design the leather goods. The most successful bag is the Petite Malle, which was created by Darren Spaziani before Nicolas started at Louis Vuitton.

Darren Spaziani also created the PS1 bag when he was working at Proenza Schouler, he now designs exclusively the fashion show bags for Louis Vuitton.

In November 2013, LV confirmed that Nicolas Ghesquière had been hired to replace Marc Jacobs as artistic director of women's collections. Ghesquière's first line for the company was shown in Paris in March 2014

Marc Jacobs was creative director of the LV house from 1997 to end of 2013.
In 2001, Stephen Sprouse, in collaboration with Marc Jacobs, designed a limited-edition line of Vuitton bags.
