Lupita Nyong'o

Thanks for the closeup, jexxica ... love the subtle glitter on the eyes. No one else could pull off blue lipstick like this

I also really like what they're doing with the Star Wars theme. Just need some scissors for that fringe ;)

i kind of like the makeup and hair too - hair reminds me of grace jones (ah just read through comments and see modelspice thought the same).

but i still find the outfit unflattering - particularly from the waist down.

To be honest I'm not sold on any of her promo looks so far....The PS is hideous and it is simply does not favor her body type.

The more I look at the London premiere gown, the more I like it -- but as others have said, the fringe at the bottom should have been chopped off. (Also the peplum doesn't seem quite fitted to her shape?)

I love her but the execution of the hair is not my favorite. The hairline is very distracting and lacks a certain level of finesse. Not a fan of blue makeup on darker skin tones but I don't mind this.

I love the outfit. There seems to be a disconnect between the two. I dunno. Not completely sold but much props for effort.

I have to agree. I appreciate that she's taking risks and that all looks have been thematic, but some editing of the looks wouldn't hurt.

Love the hair and makeup and that she's trying to go for something futuristic, but my gosh the dress is not great at all.

I agree ! She looks stunning. The hairstyle is so great and that yellow dress just shines on her.

That yellow almost glows against her skin. Great choice.

I think her trainer should tone down on the arm exercises, she looks unsettingly bionic in the last shot.

I'm constantly in awe of the versatility of her hair. She has the perfect skin tone that these bright colors glows on her.

Love these shots with the funky hair. finally, something fresh. It wouldn't hurt if she tried hair like Kerry's. She could look pretty in that too, I'm sure.

Are you suggesting she 'relax' her hair?

I think she'd be absolutely insane to do that. There are political/cultural implications of course, but forget that for the moment--she is known in part for her natural hair, it's part of her signature style. And no one in their right mind wants to sign up for the damage and toxic chemicals of perming.

But she has done it before (during her award circuit), and while the execution looked terrible and cheap, it was a breath of fresh air. I remember it being a short cut, straight blown.

Anyway, it's just a hairstyle - it's not like she's pledging allegiance to Idi Amin. Why should she be denied the right to experiment with her hair just because the public decided to hold her up as some sort of paragon? Viola Davis and Naomi Campbell sometimes opts for straight hair, never heard so much a word about the implications etc. I think a short Louise Brooks bob or Josephine Baker gel cut could look nice on her.

I don't recall that Lupita has/had done anything to her hair, during her awards circuit to date, in the manner of adding chemicals to her hair - rather that it's been texturised (check Vernon Francois's IG her official hairstylist; or either Larry Sims or Redway or Ted Gibson).

I am not suggesting that she doesn't have the right to do whatever she wants with her own hair, which of course she does. I am saying that IMO straightening her hair would not be a good style strategy for a variety of reasons. And also that I'm irked by the many suggestions I see here on tFS that seem to want to press celebrities toward the norm, most particularly when their whole claim to fame is existing beautifully outside the norm.
