sorry to bash on maggie but she just wears what every 40+ woman on the streets of asia wears. She isn't considered beautiful there either. She was beautiful ages ago when she was younger, but no longer. All the girls there are insanely slim, so her 'figure' is nothing special, even for a 40+ woman. Want to see a good figure? ^^well, each to their own i for example don't have a hard time imagining kirsten dunst and the like at such a place ... (while that might be part of her appeal). but to me maggie cheung incorporates a certain type of beauty, the way she carries herself, the mix of pride and opaqueness (word?) she emanates ... all these are characteristics i don't find common at all and i don't think it's coincidence that wong kar wai is inspired by her...

yes, she's very classy and elegant considering how she struts around in a bikini for slimming commercials after losing a lot of weight, and considering the blunt way she behaved after the 2003 tvb awards by directly insulting the other nominees in her speech:

TVB's anniversary celebrations ended last night in a happy and lively atmosphere as the awards were passed out to their recipients. However, after the fierce competition of the female lead role award, there have been rumours that before 6 o'clock on the evening, the award was going to Kenix Kwok, but this was changed to Maggie at the last minute.

In response to these report of fighting to the last minute, Maggie indicates that no-one knew until the very last minute who would win the award. I guess her 2046, In the mood for love, Hero, and Clean (her most recent films)weren't intended for western audiences as well. Which btw were all very badly received in Asia.

It seems to me that no Asian actress is considered good enough. I wonder why this is. I've heard a lot of Asians bash many actresses. Zhang Ziyi is "plain" and a bad actress. Maggie Cheung is "old" and "ugly." Gong Li is "fat" and "ugly." The press in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan...oi.

in the mood for love, 2046, hero, clean, badly received in asia??! she was SHOWERED with awards and praise for those movies..at least in the western world. i have a hard time beleiving there would be such a difference with the asian critics, come on now.

maggie q is a beautiful woman but she's mix blood and shes not near the actress maggie is (which is what interests me most - NOT how slim she looks,etc).

Maggie Q is too thin with absolutely no curves so i don't know what you're talking about. She's also known to have a 'horse face', i.e. one that is far too long and narrow.
She too has gone west recently to further career but i find this a great disappointment because her acting is horrid, it's as if she reads straight from the script. And none of her characters or even films have any substance.

Meggie Cheung has a fine body for a 40-something woman. Her style is chic and elegant i think. You're comparing her body to Mag Q, who's a model in her 20s (which, btw, isn't even great).

Maggie Q is beautiful, but IMO Cheung has that "it" factor. She has more presence in films (aside from being beautiful).
