Probably as many of you guys, I have a lot (A LOT) of fashion magazines. They're too special for me to be thrown away but I can't stand them being stored in the basement.

So, how can you make us of old magazine covers and apply them into (on to?) you interior design. I've just moved to a new apartment in the city of Stockholm and my walls are empty.

You could always just give them to me

 Most of them are in Swedish unfortunately. But I've saved my a couple of Italian, British, American and Paris Vogue with my favourite covers on.

in a store in my city they actually used the covers as wallpaper. it looks quite cool!

I would buy your non-swedish ones off you if they were for sale ^_^

Why use only the covers? They are often full of text and can look quite "busy". But the editorials inside can be very useful.

I have a habit of throwing out old magazines from time to time. But before chucking them I always go through them page by page, and rip off every picture that I like, edits, ads, anything. I archive the pages, so I always have a bunch of pictures to choose from when I need them.

The wallpaper idea is really good and I do that a lot. You can make really cool collages if you mix pictures from different editorials. You can have a color theme or some other visual theme, or you can build the collage around something else the pictures have in common. I think you get the best results by following your intuition, trust your intuitive taste to guide you..

Just start going through the mags and just follow your intuition on what to save. When I start, I never know what I'm looking for, but when I see something I like I always know immediately. When you're done, look at the pics you saved and see what kind of stories they produce together. I love that part the most! :flower:

Decoupage furniture with covers! That would look cool, Im not sure how you'd go about doing that but im sure you could find heaps in Google. The wallpaper would be a good idea too!

You could put them on a tabletop...
like decoupage them on and put glass over?

Use them for envelopes. Laminate and use them for place mats and a 'matching' set of coasters.

frame them! then hang them on the wall

i did it, they look really effective...

What a great idea. Here's an envelope template for anyone wanting to attempt. Source quoted on the vertical.

Good ideas! I have so many magazines as well, but I can't seem to part with them.

lots of great ideas--I did the wallpaper sort of thing through all four years of college dorm rooms and it was always an attention-getter and conversation starter whenever people saw my room..

I like the idea of decoupage for furniture (the table especially and putting glass over it) I might have to experiment with something like that... could be very cool

Is there some sort of method to decoupage? I'll check the DIY section of tfs... and maybe do some googling :P

I second the envelopes suggestions. Also (though I'm sure someone else already stated this), you could frame some of the editorials/articles/covers/ads, and change them periodically.

Ive been decoupaging them on gift boxes lately to match my magazine envelopes.

Want to get a old wooden chair and just decopage fashion ads on it. It can be my garden chair.

what i've been doing since i was younger was just cutting out the words, images and everything else i liked out of the magazine and putting it in a shoe box. now i have three very large shoe boxes filled with magazine scraps and i have no idea what to do with them :ninja:.
