In a continuing series of portraits for our Fall 2016 ad campaign, the individuals in these photographs represent a collective embodiment of love, honesty, integrity, courage, strength, curiosity and inspiration. Together, as one story, this collection is a reminder to question and challenge normal and to continue exploring and pushing boundaries.

To quote Lana Wachowski, “I am suspicious of everything connected to that word [normal]. It is, to my thinking, a politically correct euphemism for obedience and conformity.” GENESIS P-ORRIDGE, Unconditional Love

Through music, poetry and art, Genesis continues to explore, shape shift and define what it means to give love, be loved and live love. For me, Genesis is a sort of come-to-life definition of realness and authenticity and how being lost in an experience or new idea can result in growth and evolution.

Photographed by David Sims and styled by Katie Grand.

Finally this campaign season gives us someone actually cool. Never thought I'd see Genesis in a campaign though, love this.

I miss Juergen Teller + MJ sooooo much

Same. They were effectvily irreverent and impactful, these new ones not so much despite the starred cast. And especially doing the same concept for the 3rd time, beyond boring.

I think this is sort of great. Definitely the most interesting Sims campaign for MJ yet.

I love how overtly "cheap" and artificial it is: the fact that you can see the curtain in the background, the floorboards, the harsh green light.

Much preferred to all of those try-hard "exuberant" group shots of last season that just sort of blended in together. This definitely stands out.

I like it cause it is creepy AF.

But I don't see it being campaign-worthy.

But fashion has already lost its vibe with what major campaigns used to be.

I third this, Juergen Teller is not a photographer favoured by this forum but I think he and MJ worked incredibly well. David Sims doesn't bring that same joy, cookiness and spontaneity that Teller made synonymous with this brand. I also dislike the fact that Anita casts are getting more gimmicky and try-hard each season :rolleye:

At least it's not Gaga. This Jacobs/Sims collaboration is not working out though. Clearly sacrificing Juergen for that Miley campaign was not worth it at all.

If he is trying to scare his customers away from his store when the sun is down He succeed

These three shots feel almost editorial to me. It doesn't strike me as something that you'd likely see on top of a cab or on a billboard, and for that I rather like them. They seem more concerned with selling you a feeling, the essence of what the collection and the brand itself is about, than with a specific product or two.

That to me is always the mark of a good fashion ad. It doesn't have to resort to screaming "HERE, LOOK AT THE PRODUCT" to make you want the product.

^^
I totally agree with you Spike!
It's a great campaign, like the spring one. Theses campaigns are much more about "what the brand is about" than a product.
Marc Jacobs is not Vuitton and it's not even your regular designer brand. These ads says something: Marc Jacobs is fun, inclusive and "original".

I like that he is not working with Teller again because their collaboration didn't offered anything new.

In a way, Marc Jacobs is becoming what i've expected from McQueen to be in a way that it's not about status. It's about the clothes, the atmosphere, the people, the universe. It's not a brand that cool kids will wear à la Proenza Schouler or Public School and it's not a brand that scream "luxury-hey-i'm rich look at me".
It's about taste and style and i love it.

Love this. And I can't wait for Molly Bair's shot if ever she has this ad in her bag.

Exactly, this is a mood piece and I will take that over the million ads that have a handbag thrust in my face.

And I LOVE handbags but c'mon  Considering most brands have their separate images specifically geared towards product and spend millions getting those products on social media, celebrities, editorials and product placement in movies/tv I think we should get a couple of fun images instead of the typical.
