Marc Jacobs S/S 08 NYC

i now see the "trash it" thing he repeated over and over in the documentary about him... deconstruction... i like some stuff...
Chanel, CDG, Grey Gardens, V&R....and even the trompe l'oeil reminds me of Tom Ford for Gucci or YSL (don't remember which one...) well I still don't know what to think... Waiting for the complete show...
because some very good items, but some stuff look like s***....

Did he take a mic and apologize at the end??? 2hrs late is just not respectful for ppl...
I'm waiting for Suzy Menkes and Virgine (from Le Figaro) reviews....

There's also a 50's undertone imo. The women wearing candy-colored jackets and the hair is like a caricature of that perfect 50's homemaker mom

Yes, I think it's a total caricature of the fashions of the late '50s - early '60s.

i think this show a bit like Alexander McQueen show, the hair style, the markup~~

on one agree?

what is Grey Gardens and whats it got to do with marc jacobs?

I don't know, some pieces are great but some don't look so well put together. Will wait for the whole collection.

I don't think it's fair though, to say there are references from like, 20 other brands, LOL.

Yes, me. :D

AM was very inspired by the Hitchcock films and actresses (Kim Novak, particularly [hence the Novak bag]), which/who were from the same era, a few seasons ago; so I guess that's hardly surprising.

ER..........................................................

it's quite sloppy. I never got Marc Jacobs.

I don't like any of the outfits but come next year those shoes with the no heel will be in every magazine.

its nice but sloppy, its like he got some 40s/50s lingeries and some kids bday hats/masks ...and viola! lol...

change the translucent sleeveless top on this one to a whiter or black version, add a cuff bracelet and this is SO chanel.

Perhaps it's supposed to be a pastiche on various different designers' retro/vintage inspired looks?

yeah, that seems to be a conclusion a lot of us and slowly coming to and then again, even Undercover attacked that for this past spring/summer. There's enough of Marc in here to keep this from all being totally cannibalistic but I is confused...It's like Marc's Crash Course on Fashion Theory, back to school for all the editors. I still dig the feeling of it, i'm just puzzled by the choices.
