Marc Jacobs S/S 2017 : Frances Bean Cobain by David Sims

I'm so bored with David Sims' campaigns , they are all very underwhelming and the casts are pure clickbait thanks to Anita and Katie...

David Sims did an amazing job with the Valentino campaign, probably my favourite of the season. How can he go from that to this? I was hoping it would be by Meisel, and featuring models.

The collection featured such beautiful and vibrant colors, where did they go? B&W will not make us take this campaign seriously. Any sense of that was lost when they chose Frances.

Fact: did you know that Marc Jacobs is the only brand of LVMH that doesn't generate profit?

The. Only. Brand. That. Is. In. The. Red.

I've heard strong rumors that LVMH is looking to sell his label. In the meantime... let's not forget Marc Jacobs was the one bringing the cash during his years at LV.

Are fashion people trying to outdo one another with celebrity "models"? You used a British socialite? Well, I'll use an American reality star. You used a supermodel's sister? Well, I'll use a supermodel's daughter. WELL, I'll use a movie star's daughter. AND I'M GONNA USE A DEAD ROCK ICON'S DAUGHTER! AHA!

Mr Arnault seems to like Marc a lot so maybe he will not sell the brand right now but i hope it will not be Lacroix-bis.

He should present his collections in Paris. His type of business is not NYC...No wonder that the MBMJ line sold more.

Eh, a very one-sided claim you're making here. This brand's trouble starts and ends with LVMH's disproportionate investments made to MJ. If it's such a headache for them then they should just sell it off, like they did with DKNY. He'll be better off that way. Will force him to focus more on his business, and less on hookups.

If only it stopped there ... look who's in the White House :ninja:

What a great idea! He belongs at Giii where brands go there to die.

Eh, it's not bad. She's a pretty girl and she looks at home in these clothes as they've styled them, plus I'm willing to take the not-quite-cynical viewpoint that she's not just in this campaign as clickbait and remind myself that Marc has always had a spiritual tie to her parents and the scene they helped create, not to mention a relationship with her mother that's spanned quite a few years. So Francis Bean makes sense as a model for Marc Jacobs.

However...all of that color and sparkle and shine and pop-y delirium on the runway should've made for an equally vibrant campaign, so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surpremely disappointed to see such a normal, understated shoot as the result. Then again I've enjoyed Marc's last few campaigns, so this one couldn't help but let me down.
