Mario Badescu

I just received my ordered products today, the Drying Cream and Drying Lotion ^_^ Im actually super excited and cant wait to use it tonight
I first apply the Lotion on the spots and then the Cream, right ? Is it no too harsh to use both products ?

Ohh and as it seems to standrad at Mario Badescu, I also received samples of their Strwaberry face Scrub ,Orange Cleansing Soap and Acne Facial Cleanser. Anyone has any info about them, recommendations or smth ? My skins very sensitive and thin so Im rather hesitant to try things Im not sure of. Any help is appreciated, tia :flower:

I have to say after trying these Mario Basescu products for a few days I'm a bit disappointed and annoyed I spent £60 to make my skin worse. I have just had a maaajor skin breakout, I'm thinking it could be the glycolic acid? It didn't sting as I put it on but I noticed the next day I had lots of spots coming up and now I have a huuuge one on my cheek and one on my forehead...arrrgh. But on the positive side, it did make the skin that didn't turn spotty look nice and fresh.
And the drying lotion is really pointless in my opinion. Better to leave the spot alone than let all the pink gunk on it. It kind of dryed in with my skin in the morning...? Very nasty and I had to basically scrub the spot to get all the pink out - which aggravated it even more!
And you are so right about the cleanser micheyed, it takes forever to get makeup off and it doesn't feel clean afterwards. Although it did make my skin feel soft.
Maybe you have to try a few of their products to get good ones for you, but I can't afford to keep doing that so I think i'll stick to Avene and Clarins because they were good for my skin, I just got curious.

^If your skin is having a major breakout, that's a good thing. It's supposed to happen with Glycolic acid. It means your your skin is purging out all the impurities... Keep using it for 2 weeks and your skin will look amazing. It happened to me too, I was a bit shocked and scared at first, but I looked it up on a dermatology site - it's supposed to happen :D

Sucks about the Drying Lotion though! :( Some people have great experiences with it- others not so much. It's strange though, judging by the ingredients, the Drying Lotion should be a miracle - everything in it targets acne.

Btw, holy crap, how come Mario Badescu cost that much for you?! Did you order it from the website?!

I totally agree. You have to keep using the products to get the full effect. It takes about 28 days for the skin to totally benefit from a product. I think people have unrealistic expectations and that they just don't realize how skin care works.

Hm ok maybe i'm being a bit hasty lol...it's my impatience! I didn't realise the glycolic acid is supposed to do that...I must have an awful lot of impurities stuck under my skin cause I now have the skin of a 16 year old boy - frightening lol. I'll stick with it and hopefully it'll flush out all the rubbish, because it definitely did make the rest of my skin look good.

Ok I guess its time for my little review...
I have to admit that I didnt use it for more than 2 or 3 days either but just like chichina said, I didnt feel any improvement or just any change either.
I only used the Drying Cream once and the Drying Lotion a couple of time on spots/blackheads but I didnt see any improvement, really.
Now Ive been to my dermatologist the day before yesterday and she used my 'normal' skincare regime and now my skin had a total breakout  Its really, really bad, I didnt have anything like this for like the last couple of months... I dont know whether its the Badescu products (even tho I dont think tho, as I only used it that short) or the combination of the products but I really hesitant to try it again.
The other thing is, Im sort of trying to break into the modeling business right now so Im afraid my skin might get worse with the Badescu products... anyway, would you recommend to mix them with my usual products or rather use them exclusively to see their result ?!

I looked through the ingredients of the Drying Cream & Lotion and I don't understand why they could make you break out. But it is true that sometimes when you introduce new ingredients to your skin, there may be an initial purging period. You have to use a product for much longer to know if it will work out for you, because your skin is probably still adjusting to the product. Have you ever used any acne products with salicylic acid? That might be why your skin is breaking out. You can use the Drying Lotion during the night time and the Drying Cream during the day time maybe? :D

Are any of the products good for getting rid of blackheads?
I have the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser which I really like but it doesn't do anything to them.
BTW, I have dry to normal skin.

Last option, of course. You HAVE to stick with any product for a while to get an effect. And if you are trying to become a model you must find an efficient skin care regime either way...

So, I filled out the questionnaire and these are the products they are sending me samples of:

Orange cleansing soap
- Use morning and night to cleanse skin
Alpha grapefruit cleansing lotion - Use morning and night after cleansing skin, apply with cotton pad
Ceramide herbal eye cream - Use under eye area morning and night
Collagen moisturizer spf15 - Use in the morning
AHA and ceramide moisturizer - use at night time
Whitening mask - Use twice a week for 10 minutes, this will help to even out discoloration or acne scarring
Almond and honey face scrub - use twice a week

I'm very curious to try them, since I don't think I've seen many of these mentioned on here before. I will let you know what I think once I try them!:flower:

^I have the Ceramide Herbal Eye Cream - I really, really love it. I like to use it during the day time. It's a lighter yet very moisturizing eye cream. Almost as good as the Hyaluronic Eye Cream.

I've also tried the Whitening Mask. It didn't do anything for me and I used it for about a month... Some people have experienced "wonders" from this mask, but my blotchiness just never goes away.

Good luck with the other stuff! Tell us how it goes :brows:

I filled out the questionnaire for samples but they won't ship to me

I'm wondering if I should purchase the Acne repair kit (which is the drying lotion and cream and the buffering lotion). I've been on various prescribed topical solutions for my skin for quite some time now with varying degrees of success, but really would like to stop relying so heavily on my doctor. My skin itself is in very good condition (If I may say so myself ^_^) but it's just when I get what is now the odd spot,my body simply isn't fighting the bacteria/infection away and one simple spot can last for weeks and weeks (Numerous visits to hospital later and nobody can explain why I have been cursed :ninja:,just a 'weakened immune system') and no solution I have bought in a drug store has had any effect on me whatsoever.

Perhaps I should just buy the drying lotion on it's own. Any suggestions?

*edit*
I just read that the drying solution is only suitable for whiteheads that have come to the surface. So it may not be always suitable. Hmm I'll keep researching.

Hmm... Stupid question, but have you tried rubbing isopropyl alcohol on the spot? Some bacteria slaying disinfectant ought to help your skin :brows:

My skin has been breaking out like crazy from all the stress recently. I know I follow a strict no-alcohol-in-toner rule, but after trying the Mario Badescu Special Cucumber Lotion (which is mainly isopropyl alcohol + other crap) most of my breakout has gone and cleared up. Isopropyl alcohol is usually super drying on the skin, but for some reason the Special Cucumber Lotion leaves my face soo moist.

Over the years I have tried so many things I have lost track. But you've inspired me to try out the special cucumber lotion :flower: Just ordered it so should hopefully be here some time next week ^_^

I asked for evaluation of ingredients of these products (I always check the ingredients before buying because of my problematic and sensitive skin.
I'm not falling for what's written on packaging anymore.)

Enzyme Cleansing Gel
: gentle cleansing gel with kaolin and citrus. For oily or combination skin.
Anti-Acne Serum: serum with salycilic acid and alcohol. Apply directly on acne.
Aloe Moisturizer (SPF-15): moisturising cream with SPF. Without antioxidants. For normal and oily skin. Not very good.
Honey Moisturizer: the same as above (without SPF), also without AHA acids.
Hydro-Moisturizer With Vitamin C: moisturising cream, again without antioxidants. Nothing special.
Vitamin C Serum:heart:: moisturising anti-aging serum with vitamin C, aloe vera, hyaluronic acid. Very good.

It doesn't look very promising to me anymore, but the last serum.

Ah, I love the Honey Moisturizer & Hydro-Moisturizer With Vitamin C though. The Honey Moisturizer smells so freakin' great and it always leaves my skin so glowy in the morning (haven't bothered to look into ingredients because I trust MB not to put in toxic crap ). I use the Hydro-Moisturizer as a makeup primer because it is sort of mattifying and skin smoothing.

The Vitamin C serum seems perfect though. I'm buying it immediately after I get a Clarisonic brush :D

^ thank you, Isa. Great info
Was thinking of trying the Vit C after I'm through with the DHC one I'm using now.

i only have the drying cream, and my opinion is that i think its just okay. i'm a little on the fence with it cause ive only used it for a week but i DO think it helps with cysts (especially ones you feel are about to come up. just rub some cream in before your sleep and by morning it should be gone) and whiteheads you know are also about to form, but other than that i think its extremely overpriced and the reason for that is i actually think there is TOO much product for one person to use. unless you have VERY problematic skin (which if you did you probably wouldnt even be using this since its not a very strong treatment) i dont see why anyone would use the whole package. if this was, say, $6 instead of $13 and only had half the amount of product in it, i'd definitely repurchase. but it did its job for me so i cant really complain.

I was just looking into the ingredients of some of the stuff. There are actually AHAs in the Honey Moisturizer - the Orange Extract (AHA Fruit Acid). The Honey Extract is actually composed of citric and lactic acid too... So this stuff is actually full of AHAs. Sort of explains why my skin is always glowy after using it. There is also Vitamin A & E in this stuff... gotta love it!

And the Hydro-Moisturizer with Vitamin C surely does have antioxidants! Vitamin C itself (ascorbic acid) is an antioxidant - and that's one of the active ingredients in this stuff. And oh my god, I can't believe they have Squalene in this stuff! There is so much controversy behind it, but all in all I think it explains why this moisturizer works so well as a makeup base:

(wikipedia) Squalene is used in cosmetics as a natural moisturizer. It penetrates the skin quickly, does not leave a greasy feeling on the skin and blends well with other oils and vitamins. Squalane is a saturated form of squalene in which the double bonds have been eliminated by hydrogenation. Because squalane is less susceptible to oxidation than squalene, it is more commonly used in personal care products. Toxicology studies have determined that in the concentrations used in cosmetics, both squalene and squalane have low acute toxicity, and are not significant human skin irritants or sensitizers.
I do hope this changes your mind about those products. They are like HGs to me, so I wouldn't want you to miss out on them :heart::heart:
