Meisel and Vogue Italia parting ways?

Confirmed! Steven will no longer be working for Vogue Italia, he's headed to W full time now from what i heard.

Not entirely bad news, here's to hoping that Meisel will produce more editorials in the key of his non-Vogue works like Asexual Revolution and Dogging. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for confirming Riseup.

This is so sad, i am properly upset no matter how pathetic that sounds. Off to eat chocolate ice cream!

His absence will be greatly felt at VI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The W cover out of the blue now makes sense. A great way to start! But Its also bittersweet news. Thanks Riseup

If the VI China Issue rumor is true and Sorrenti is shooting then I could see Jing Wen fronting the cover.

Wow! And I think this might explain why Meisel's book which was supposed to be out September this year has been postponed to September next year. The book was supposed to have Franca as the co-author (probably introduction etc.). Now since their relationship is broken, I am afraid the book will never be out.

Well, this has the potential to be very horrible for the future of VI.

I had the sinking feeling that Francesco Carozzini was going to end up being Meisel's replacement for VI, but M&M would be equally pathetic; besides they are losing relevance at the rate of a Formula 1 car crashing off track. Don't they only work for VP and W?

The whole beef between Franca and Meisel sounds somewhat petty in the sense that Wintour had already chosen the 'Chinese' theme for the MET months in advance of Meisel shooting the editorial. Surely if Meisel had turned down the opportunity to work on the MET story and Anna had turned to say McDean or Testino to shoot it, accusations of parallel themes when June VI would eventually turn up with their 'China' issue would still abound in a major fashion? It's not as if Meisel intentionally stole a concept that had been pitched to him from Sozanni in spite?

Although I do understand how Franca would have felt betrayed in the scenario, given his long-term loyalty to VI vs. his declining influence at US Vogue.

At any rate, I would prefer to see a roster of photographers like McDean, Weber, I&V etc. on VI. M&M only ever work for me in limbo with Alex White. Surely Enninful is contractually bound to work exclusively for W, given his 'Fashion and Style Director' title though, so if he is really working with Franca for VI then there must be some shifts going on at W as well...

Yup, no coincidence there. These are people with huge egos, the stories i heard about Franca that i could tell you. Meisel can be no better though, but it will take a long, long time, if ever, for their relationship to repair. We most likely wont see his name in VI ever again.

It's an end of an era without a doubt!

Oh God, I wonder which issue will be his finale??? What a shocking move. Tonchi and Enninful must be beside themselves with glee. At least this move will hopefully mean no more M&M at W.

Pretty sure you will see a Mert & Marcus domination at VI, it wont be Francesco, it will be their magazine from now on. I like them, and think some of their work can be great, like you said; especially with Alex, but to me the idea of them having VI as a platform each month is a complete & utter nightmare! I can see Franca thinking how they are all pushing the envelope by publishing really crass work! Mesiel always has a unique and personal point of view in his work, something they lack!

^what stories are those?? Oh wow!

Anyway, if Enninful, M&M & Franca are innInstanbul so it seems that Edward is shifting to VI? VI is a bigger opportunity for Edward so I don't see him having troubles in shifting. But maybe he could also do both. VI is not that keen of having a permanent stylist either.

So if M&M are the replacements, why is Sorrenti shooting June?

Does this also mean that M&M will stop shooting for Vogue Paris and W? We all know that M&M are famous for rehashing their work and producing the same content add that to Franca's attitude of not wanting another magazine to have the visual similarities to her magazine. If M&M still works for VP & W, and is the contract staple for VI... Then it's bound to be a Meisel x VI fallout again at some point.

I hope so too. VP needs more Inez & Vinoodh, Sorrenti anyway.

And what is going to happen with Pat?

M&M photography is sexy, beautiful, interesting & a bit tacky & slightly controversial BUT NEVER CLASSY :(
Hopefully M&M won't be exclusive to VI
I rather see different photographers shooting the VI covers because no one can replace Meisel

Enninful posted a photo on instagram a few minutes ago with McDean, Eugene Souleiman, Peter Philips and Julia Nobis so perhaps he just happened to be there for a W shoot. Or changes at W are coming too. One thing's for sure, it is the end of an era as many of us got into fashion magazines seeing a Meisel photo. I hope there'll be variety in VI from now on and not just one photographer shooting the cover every month.

China special for June isuue is already comfirmed by VI's weibo account.

Good luck VI, and I'm glad that I bought VI July 2013.

Maybe that shoot Kim did, was in fact with Meisel for W, then? Could see Steven demanding to work on more model covers in the W future, in return for working on such celeb covers. Hopefully Tonchi is a patient smart man.

And what is going to happen with Pat?
She just moves ahead to W with Meisel, no way she or Guido are ever leaving Meisel's team.

Quite frankly the prospect of Meisel becoming a W staple doesn't excite me one bit...particularly as he'll probably be working exclusively with Enninful. I can only see it being rehashes of VI 2004-08, sorry!

Besides W had yielded its former status as cult icon to Interview a long time ago, although having seen how dire the Meisel x Templer stories have been at VI, I'm not sure I would welcome Meisel there either. I just hope he goes back to US Vogue because Grace and Tonne can still get gold out of him.

Wow, what sad and excited news about Meisel!! I'm happy that he will shake up things at W because for me their covers have been lackluster or hit or miss for me.

Also, I hope this means Meisel will work with US Vogue more often. Even turn out a cover again. Meisel and Grace = PURE SATISFACTION! Since his last cover was the truly beautiful May 2009 cover.

Wowww thanks for all the good gossip, guys! It would be nice for VI to have rotating photographer covers. Klein one month, Roversi the next, so on...
