@yayyay533: if there is a law that women have to wear a scarf, isn't there a rule of how they have to wear it, too? on many women on these pics the scarf is draped so loose that you can see their hair. isn't it all about covering the hair?

@kindi, there is a law that states that Iranian women must wear the veil but this law was not voted on democratically; the majority of Iranians (especially the women) do not like this law and would rather not wear the veil. Pulling the veil back is a sign of rebellion and is also said to be a sign of not supporting the government. I've gotten "detained" a good two times due to "improper" hijab :-(

This thread is really interesting, thanks to it I've noticed how Iranian women wear the scarf in a very different way from Arab women, especially those from North Africa who tend to wear it pretty tightly.

But simple is always best - its about simplicity really

agreed !

Also can I say that the women in #66 (the third picture down) are pretty amazing for daring to protest all while keeping it classy too. Its people like them who give me hope for our world. :)

As an Iranian, I really appreciate the comment :D. At least we know we're getting some recognition (while the other half of us are being jailed)

OMG  I like the way Iranians wear the scarf, but it sucks knowing that they're being forced to do it and that they wouldn't wear it if they had a choice.

I have lots of street style photos from Iran, but I'm not going to post them (they're mostly of my boyfriend's family)

I would really love to see Israeli street style but I'm not sure where to find it. Anyone have suggestions? :)

^Maybe some of the Israeli newspapers have a street style section? Some of the Danish newspapers do that once in a while.

I do think we have a thread somewhere though...

Not all the Arab women in the Middle East wears the head scarf ! Only the
Muslim women wear head scarf.
There are also Christian women in the Middle East. One just have to go/ look
at Lebanon with Fashion designers like Elie Saab and George Chakra.
