Models Who Aren't That Tall

^ rachel alexander (who is definately not short) used to be listed at 5'8'' when she first started for abercrombie. this makes me think all the 5'9''s and 5'10'' are more around 5'8''
I'm sure lots of them are. There has to be quite a few 5'10 girls who actually are 5'10 or 5'9.5'', though, right? 5'10 is a good height, so no need to write them up to 5'11.

KhaoticKharma: Good point. I think really short and super tall are still exceptions, but there definitely seems to be a greater span. Or maybe there always was, but it's just being highlighted and discussed more these days, with the emergence of places like tfs... But then it does feel like there are way more short girls out there now... Bah, I don't know what I'm talking about anymore. It's almost 3 am here, I need to go to bed! :p :ninja:

Very true, from what I understand Cameron Russell, Gemma Ward, Camila Finn, Daria Werbowy, and Solange Wilvert are all very much the heights that they are listed (which range from 5'9.5-5'11). :flower:

surfbunny--julia looks almost 2 inches taller to me in those pics

hm yeah maybe you're right but Mona is around 5'6 which makes Julia around 5'8 which isn't too tall for a runway model ^_^

I think at this point, height means a lot less than it did a few years ago; the fashion world is so disconnected from the rest of the entertainment industry that few of the models are famous; Liya Kebede is a superstar to me, but I'm fairly certain none of my friends know her from Natalia Vodianova  Right now, people are just looking for that new face that can make a splash- whether she's 5'8 or 6'2!

Maybe...

But, I have another possible explanation for that: it has always been so, but people didn't know about that, because there wasn't actually a source, where they could get this infornation. There wasn't anything like our tFS at the time, where someone who's at the same agency that Julia could come round and say she's not as tall as listed. Magazines wouldn't touch this subject, unless it's someone like Kate Moss or Devon...

And, talking about Kate Moss, I'm thinking if she would be anywhere as popular supermodel as she is, if she wasn't a shortie... I mean, a lot of attention that obviously boosted her career was given to her due to the fact that she's short for a model...

Oops, Saracita said it already... Well, that's exactly the point that I've been trying to make...

actually, cameron russell is quite short. i saw her at this show a few seasons back. she's probably at most 5'8''

^Really? She had a friend who swore she was 5'9.5 on tFs for the longest time... of course, considering the friend also modeled, it was a bit difficult to believe in the first place :innocent:

In the nicky hilton thread, they say that nicky is around 5"7. And Paris is 5"8. but when they wear flipflops, it looks like they have the same height?

^ Well, 1 inch is not much of a difference... I actually remember when I was 5'6 1/2 and my cousin was 5'5 and people often thought we were the same height...

A few post back I posted a pic of Lily Donaldson looking a lot shorter than Caroline Trentini (both in flats), but I just dismissed, figuring Trentini was a possible 6 foot er. This pic, however, supports my theory that Lily is actually closer to a 5'8-5'8.5

They are in the same shoes and there is no way that Gemma is a six footer- she's 5'10 according to nearly every site.

^yea, i've noticed that too but i've always thought gemma was taller...
trentini isn't 6'0'' either, she's closer to 5'10.5''

I'll be very suprised if Gemma is 5'10" and Caroline is just 5'10".5. Caroline looks at least 5'11" for sure, and Gemma closer to 5'11" then 5'10" as well.

^ That's what I thought; but models are almost always listed their real height if that height is 5'10 or 5'11, and Gemma is listed at 5'10.

However, someone on the boards when to school with Lily and said that she was 5'10 at the shortest.

With these models, will we ever really know?

I heard it many times on this board that Gemma likes saying she's 5'10, but is, in fact, much taller, at 6'0 +
Caroline T. is probably about 5'10.
I never thought Lily D. was super tall, assuming she's 5'8 - 5'9.
Lily D., however, is pretty tall, I think...

Not unless we meet them!

sigh...

it's odd, i saw so many traipsing around at fashion week...but it's so hard to tell their heights when you are wearing 4-5 inch heels and they are in flats...not a very reliable measure...

i'll try to pay more attn in february..;)

^ That's true... Gemma is certainly a 5'10
So I guess that does make Lily 5'8-5'9?

I think Gemma's more like 5'11 ... her stats all said 5'10 when she was 15 so it's likely she's grown since then and they haven't been bothered to change it - what's the point when you're representing Gemma Ward? I'm sure her clients don't care if she's 5'10 or 5'11

That's just my opinion anyway.
