Models Who Aren't That Tall

I say so cause she looks pretty tall on the runway even tho she is not in reality

how can you tell if someone has good proportions? i really..don't know.

Long legs, moderately long torso, medium shoulders in comparison to the torso, small waist and roughly equal bust and hip measurements.

Basically, I think good proportions are where no one feature stands out as being completely separate from the rest. No huge shoulders like Lily D, no short or too long torso, good waist definition, etc.

You're right on the money. Whenever I see Shannan on the runway I think she's at least 5'9''.
yup^_^

But it's the imperfections that make the models...models..
I mean, no model is perfect in terms of proportion, and I adore Lily D's shoulders.

referring to the above picture...Irina is short...not tall, that picture proves nothing.
There are too many pictures of her in flats and Kate Moss in heels taller than her, therefore showing that if Irina were wearing heels, they'd be the same height...and a lot of other photos of Irina standing dwarf in comparison to other models.

I was talking about Diana ;)
of course we don't see their shoes tho

its funny, though
some models just look proportionately shorter

take 5'9.5 Elyse Saunders...:innocent:

Agreed. People always think it's a symetrical face and blah blah. But most models don't have an exactly symetrical face or whatever, I'd think more of the average person would have that. But it's more like a certain look that is different from most people. I don't think I made sense .

About the Andi Muise (who is she btw?) posts,

I don't know if she has shoes on, but the girl next to her (Tatiana Kovylina is 5'9) ?? I thought she was 5'9 too, but maybe not?

Actually I think it's because most people are used to models in heels, that they forget a girl's legs really don't go on for miles. She looks 5'9" to me.
When models go barefoot or flat shoes, i guess people are shocked.

Mona J. is 5'7 but looks a lot taller, it all depends on the legs, etc.

In a interview for The Fashion File on E entertainment television Michelle Buswell says she is 189 - 6'2.5(?) ...so Tiiu Kuik who is often pictured with her and is taller than her is taller than 190..!

yeah, i agree. i'm 5'9''/5'9.5'' too and i look just like she does with no shoes on.

I have been following this thread and it's interesting to hear all this speculation about heights and discussion of why we want to know them. Personally I like hearing about shorter models because it does boost my confidence. Like most women I wish I was taller so when I hear about certified beauties who aren't extremely tall it makes me feel validated, like I'm not that bad. But honestly the cold hard truth is most models are much taller than the average woman and the 5'7"-5'8" girls are not the majority by far.
Just for example, I do modeling part-time in a very non-fashion-centric small midwestern city (Indianapolis). I am only 5'7" too and at every audition and every show I am usually significantly shorter than all the girls. Most are over 5'9" (a few around 6' and up) and I always feel terribly out of place and envious and insecure about height but thankful that I still get jobs (and of course I don't I act like it bothers me, I still have fun). I'm just saying this to show that even far from the high-fashion world of New York, these standards of height apply and the exception is rare.

But, you have defeated yourself right there. All the short models walk into a casting like they are 5'10". It's confidence. It's that sense of self-knowing, and believing you can model just as well as those other girls.
