Most Overpriced Designer?

Dear Lord, Lola. How much time were you spending in a Chanel store that you saw a single customer literally buy 5 outfits from head-to-toe?

I spend less than a hour actually. That's why i found it so insane that someone would just pick up clothes without even trying them on in that short amount of time. I remember that she picked up a jumpsuit from the Resort-Greek collection that was maybe +10000 euros and didn't even tried it.
Part of the appeal to go to a store like that is also to have a seamstress coming for the fitting, they can alter some details in order for you to be totally comfortable in the outfit.
And she wasn't even interested in that. Plus, she wasn't a skinny model type of woman.

I remember how stunned i was. Seeing that makes me realize that actually, no matter the prices increase (and Chanel RTW + bags has become quite untouchable over the years), no matter how expensive the shows are, with clients like that they don't have to worry.

And of course, you have the insane stories of women booking appointments and buying like crazy after the store is closed. And i've heard that when Couture Week is coming it's crazy. They have women who just buy in order to flaunt at the show.

maybe she didn't buy those for herself? In China, there are professional buyers purchasing luxury goods in euro for local customers, cause it's cheaper than the price in China, they are just informed the style and size, and then usually swept the stores like a super rich ppl, but those goods aren't for themselves.

and i am also curious, how much u need to spend in store in order to be invited to a Chanel show. at least 30,000 euro i guess

This Chanel dress from 2015 prefall was marked HK$960,300 (about 101,000 EURO) on official website. i was really shocked and told my friends.....even for Chanel it's crazy, it's an embroidered silk organdi dress, why RTW dress would worth sets of really Haute Couture? i wonder if they put the price wrong
and if the price is correct, this is by far the most expensive RTW i ever know

There has been more expensive RTW on runways over the years. Balenciaga leggings anyone?

^ I believe those leggings were around $100K, so a bit cheaper than that Chanel dress.

But there has definitely been more expensive ready-to-wear. Fendi fur coats that go up to 200K come to mind.

Reports surrounding the Beyonce purchase around that time were that the tights cost approximately $100,000 so I wasn't aware they cost a lot more. Thanks!

thanks for sharing, crazy world! the extremely high prices are largely due to the special tech and material i guess, especially for Fendi, not surprising if very rare fur sold at more than 100K.
But we are talking about a silk organzi dress sold at 100K euro, i still think the Chanel one is more shocking, i don't think balenciaga can sell a silk dress at this price in any situation.

i suspect that the price is due to it being converted from HK$ to Euro. I highly doubt that a cocktail dress would cost that much even for Chanel.
Chanel Prefall collection are Demi-couture or Couture à Porter as they like to call it. The same people who are doing the Couture are doing this so, you pay for the design, the craftmanship, the bests fabrics and the prestige.

The only difference between this and Couture is the fact that it's not made for you, you can't modify it or things like that.


Those Balenciaga leggigns were insane IRL. I remember at the time you had to book to appointment in order even to try those. I wonder who, apart from Beyonce bought it (and i wonder if she still have those). I know Balenciaga at the time had the clientele who wanted the runway pieces but those leggings were the most insane thing i've ever seen.

100K would be a bargain. Back in October I saw a white lynx gilet (not even a full coat) at Fendi retailing for £203,000 (about $280,000).

Yep, RTW. I don't even want to think their prices for Haute Fourrure either. You'd probably have a hard time finding anything for less than 100K.
