Most Overpriced Designer?

She was expensive, but wonderful quality.

but of course ^_^

i was REALLY into her back in 1997 through 2000. and got the goods to prove me right on her style. so very worth it.

Let's all be honest here -- we all love expensive clothing, but the only people who like high price tags are elitists who want to Buy their importance. Without cost and lables, many people wouldn't be worth much.

adam.

the only one's overpriced are those you don't care for and there's pleny of them...

1. Chanel (accessories are way overpriced for what you actually get). But I do Love Chanel!
2. Prada. So not worth it!
3. Dior. Mostly overpriced tack.
4. Marni. Just because I would never pay for anything of marni!
5. D &G. Just hideous and looks like market stall tack.

D&G, the quality of it is horrendous, especially for the price you pay. However, it's a nice item to buy when you're looking for some decent street wear and dep't stores such as I.T. in Hong Kong offer an up to 90% off invite only sale which stretches to the likes of D&G, Raf Simons and Viktor & Rolf :woot:.

That, and these days Dior Homme. In the past I have been willing to dish out well over a couple grand on just one or two items (circa reflection - strip), but that's due to the fact that, during those days, I could say that the quality really did speak for the price. Unfortunately that isn't the case anymore (though occasionally it is for the rare runway piece). Case in point, I bought a $475 shirt from their previous summer collection and within just a couple months the material just started to lose it (I only wore it perhaps a total of six times as well), and I was gravely dissappointed. So for me, Dior Homme, nowadays is way up there on the list, which really is too bad.

Not to mention, trashy labels like DSquared2 and Lucien Pellat-Finet (their cotton items that is, as their cashmere pieces are truly unmatchable), oh yeah, side labels like Versus and Versace Classic!!

Sometimes I feel I must defend Prada, as I have had some very good puchases with a couple of their items (Suiting, Cashmere Turtlenecks as such), however I will admit that their tacky Prada Sport items are ridiculously priced.

Anyway, the ultimate markup I must say is the whole Nike Dunk and Bathing Ape (street wear) craze. In places like Hong Kong and Japan, you can easily find a pair of Nike Dunk SB's for $3-500 USD (these are regular Nike Dunks, made in China, only with "limited edition" color schemes) and even $5000 USD for something like the Undefeated crossover with Nike (one of these is simply an all white Nike Dunk with the undefeated logo sewn into the back). This I must say is ridiculous, because it's simply all hype, no quality. The unfortunate thing is that these crazy items continuously get sold and in fact, get sold out in no time!

- Cheers

I totally don't see the appeal of DSquared2 its totally untaseful and most of it looks like I could of bought it elsewhere for like a sixteenth of the price!!

I almost fell flat on my face the other day when I saw the $110 branded on the price tag for Burberry earmuffs of the most horrid quality (Oh, but it DOES have their notorious pattern on it, of course)

I was in an outlet a few days ago and there were expensive labels like D&G, Prada and others. I was so surprised at the clothing, that they all looked so ORDINARY, like a plain shirt, plain jeans. $3000 for a shiny black Prada t-shirt. There was nothing about craftwork or design in them at all--AND THE STORE WAS SO FULL of people!!!

(I didn't even know those labels actually sold stuff like that. I always expected something more :o)

^Gius, are you sure it wasn't Prada Sport you were looking at?

Im gonna go out on a limb here, and vote for BurberryProrsum, the menswear line at least...Dont get me wrong--I love the Prorsum line, and with every collection, I can see myself buying A LOT of pieces for myself..Hell, the Prorsum collection is really the only line from Milan that I care to pay attention to these days..Granted that's it's nothing really new, nothing that would take the "avant garde" label, or nothing that really pushes the boundaries of fashion so to speak, but it's just plain CUTE, which is fine by me..To me, the fabric is good, the design is good, the construction is good, but if you look at the prices, you'd swear it was GREAT. To me, it's not much of a stretch from their London line, but the pricetag most certainly is..

But as for their womenswear line, that I dont know...I imagine it's the same thing though..

I don't remember looking inside the shirt to see the label, but the label that covered the small shelf that had the clothes was labelled Prada. Actually I left something out---There were black jewels on that shirt  No wonder it was expensive. But I don't know what kind of jewels (and also, the fabric felt nice, like silk. But the D&G jeans and shirts... they were surely a disappointment.)

Anyway I think if I were to pay for something that expensive, I would expect to have it tailored to fit me than ready-to-wear ;)

Sounds like it was probably Prada. I was just wondering because some people don't recognize the difference between the two labels since Prada Sport doesn't actually say "Sport" anywhere.

Prada Sport is really just sports clothing (like Nike or Adidas), isn't it? I wonder if the line is even made by her. I've actually never heard of Prada Sport till a few days ago. I would probably be surprised/in shock to see running shoes with the label Prada too! (x_x;
I guess the people that go to these shops don't look at the seasonal collections first when they first come out, so they can't tell the differences.

Ah, I won't actually step into the boutiques, but when I go to the discount shoe shops they've always got these horrid Prada shoes that are "on sale" for $200US or so. You know, usually they're these studded, multiple-buckled, open-toe platforms that are five different clashing shades of metallic faux-snakeskin. Because you're an individual, and you're worth it, la di da, DSW shoe barn is there for you.

Local Loehmann's once had Roberto Cavalli halter dresses--again, "on sale"--for $300 or so that were absolute crap: the fabric, the sewing, the design, all of it. Very poorly made doilies with some sequins thrown on it. Found some Gucci dresses that were likewise, just nasty ruched black lycra. No cut, no tailoring, no design, really, just that so-called "sexy" have-your-****-hanging-out, skimpy spangled garbage.

If the labels were cut out, nobody'd buy any of it.
