Most Overpriced Designer?

Juicy and Louis Vuitton (ugliest purses, and not worth the price at all.) Everything is overpriced nowadays.

Lines like Marc by Marc, D&G etc... I think they are so expensive even though the quality is nowhere near worth the price mainly because it's risky [maybe even scary] for a designer to go too low. It makes you question all other items and maybe the popularity or 'worth' of the designer decreases. I am wording this all wrong because I'm just out of it today but I hope you catch my drift. They can potentially lose upscale clientelle if their product prices go down and (god forbid) the average joe can afford some of it...

OMG!!! verything is overpriced. i'm talking bout designer clothes. how come something made by fabric is cost THAT MUCH! i'd rather buy a bag than a shirt.
celine is riciculous, few times ago i saw a necklace made by crocodile skin, they sold it for 2000$!!! F**ck, i'd go myself to teh lake and drag a croco and skin it myself :p
and the dress, it's sooo simple, don't need any GREAT craftmanship and it cost hundreds of dollars.

Vuitton small leather goods! And Jil Sander can sometimes be far too expensive...

Celine: the stuff is boring and extremely overpriced.
Roberto Cavalli: because it looks like it is worth 10 dollars/euros a pice
McQ: it is division line and not much cheaper

Louis Vuitton. It's usually crap and stuff trendwhores jump all over (not always the case, but more often than not) and I don't find the merchandise attractive at all. The bags are usually logo'ed to death so that it screams, "OMG, I'm carrying a Louis Vuitton purse, aren't I so kewl?" Every girl in my school (except me, pretty much) toted one around to be cool back in 2003/2004 and many still do. They're way over-priced for such unattractive items.

Ironically my two least favorites too.

Everything Lanvin! In fact everything prêt à porter "de luxe" is crap, people are not fools... Lanvin prices are ridiculous, they pretend to have a so-called "craftmanship", "Tradition", but blah, I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost anything to made. 900 EUR for a simple black Polo? Come on... It's ready-to-wear, or it is haute-couture -or it is special, like Hermès which has its own farms, etc.

But anyway, I see a future à la Rochas destiny here :ninja:

rochas (was...), lanvin (even the bland menswear is pushing up their prices on the back of the sucess of the womens line) and hermes ready to wear ( unlike the leathergoods the ready to wear is outsourced- i think belvest make their suits and seraphin the leather jackets)

Oh God I so agree with you guys - Belletrist and Travis_nw8 about Lanvin. Since last winter, the prices for the womenswear have seen significant hikes - last September I purchased a beautiful wool trench with a large mink collar for just under 3000 Euros. This winter almost all of their outerwear regardless of materials used is priced at around 3400 Euros - their cardigans even are just under 2k!!! Yes, some of the stuff is pretty - unusual and special - however even run of the mill crap such as wool cardigans with teeny trimmings of mink or mongolian lamb - are pushing 2k - and they aren't even cashmere or lined. Crappy quality unlined leather jackets are pushing 6K - its quite unbelievable! I went into Hermes just to see if I could find anything cheaper. And amazingly their long-line cashmere cardigans were 1,100 euros 600+ euros cheaper than Lanvins souped up versions!!!

like said before EVERYTHING is overpriced but Ive noticed that Dior, Chanel, Versace and Louis Vuitton are by far the most overpriced labels....but then again how else are you supposed to show off??

I think it depends on what you purchase for that particular brand, material, cut, originality. For example, if you buy a well fitted gabardine coat from DH 1083 euros is not that expensive or a layered dress for 350 euros at Helmut Lang, though is definately pricey.
Besides, it is quiet dumb IMO to pay 500euros to a nylon prada bag that you buy for 15 euros in street markets or 250 euros to a John Galliano t-shirt when you get nothing but john galliano's plastic face and mean expression on it.
To list, Cavalli, Versace, John Galliano, DG for bad taste and Hermes, LV pap, sometimes CDG for exaggerating the idea of exclusivity. and this is a very short list.

short, but good

I think, if you really, really fall in love with an item, and you have the money, and you know you will never ever regret it, nothing is overpriced. Otherwise it all pretty much is overpriced. Eventhough I think designer houses should be very carefull what pricetags they put on there pieces, if they don't want to end up like Rochas.

i suppose it's the newer designers/brands that are most overpriced- vuitton and dior can claim history, advertising to justify price. Hussain Chalayan famously had to rethink his pricepoints.

Yeah I'd go with Marc Jacobs and Prada..their really basic stuff, the prices just dont make sense. Plain and simple top costing a couple of hundred bucks is just ridiculous. I get that they're marketing luxury goods but I dont think it would hurt for them to be a lil reasonable with the prices. And the other day I wanted to get a dily planner..and I was looking at the Hermes ones. It was a piece of rectangular leather, really soft with suede insides, but the paper comes seperately so it was just that one piece of leather. And it was over 800 Malaysian Ringgit. I thought that was a bit much considering its just a piece of leather, no compartments, nothing.

YES!!! the planners!!! They are completely shocking! I wanted to buy a Louis Vuitton one but I refused to pay 900 Dollars for it, I mean that is just rude.
