Old Hollywood Glamour channeled by todays stars

Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe wearing the same style of belt here as marykate olsen.

Cool thread! I'll post some a little later

IMO Old Hollywood Glamour is more of a "feel" than a "style"- Jessica Simpson can try all she wants and wear whatever she wants, but she'll never have "it". Anyway I'll post some people who I think really get it right in a bit.

oh! this reminds me of bette davis here:

Thanx everyone for the pics and comparisons! please post more!

I love Old Hoolywood Glamour, but for me it's more about a feel for Hollywood's Golden Era, rather than a identical/similar dress. I consider it to be a star exuding a attitude of grance, sophistication, and elegance. Some of todays celebs do that and some don't. IMO Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton could copy a look from Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn piece for piece and not be "Old Hollywood Glamour" So with that in mind, I'll post stars who I that do have "it":

Claire Danes- she often wears cuts that are "old hollywood" (fulls skirst cinched waistelines) but more than that, she has a very sophistacted way about her.

Emmy Rossum- She wear a lot of long flowing dress, lame, and full skirts. But she also looks graceful. She also has that "quality" about her. I think she's the only "teen" star today who does.

I don't think Nicole Kidman needs explanation. She reminds me of Grace Kelly more than any modern star. She manages to looks classic and modern at the same time

Reese Witherspoon: I can't really say why I think her style is "old hollywood". She seem more perky and cute than elegant and sophistocated. But something about her seem Old Hollywood to me:

I'm not even commenting on the Simpsons. No talent, no style. And they have stylists. Who give them bad, cheesy style. The end.

But I like Scarlett, but this old glamour thing gets annoying.

Who's to say that "old hollywood" didn't have stylists? Or should I say Costume Designers? I'm sure some of those great women (not discrediting any of them for their great style) had advice on what to wear somewhere down their career paths.

I don't think Jesisca Simpson should ever be compared to Grace Kelly! never ever never!! .. thats my personal opinion.

The only women here evoking old hollywood to me are Gwen (she did play Rita hayworth after all), Nicole Kidman (timeless..), and Scarlet (I'm not a huge fan, but I admit.. she looks good), and maybe Cate Blanchett (doesn't evoke the same iconic status as Nicole, but she is a beautiful woman)

SJP looks great and dresses really well, but she for some reason is always modern to me (ditto to Clare Danes) and Reese Witherspoon and Renee also dress well, but I don't think they evoke the same old hollywood glamour as the women I mentioned above. I also think MK and Ashley dress really well, but they are much more eclectic to me. Emmy Rosum looks great, but I think she needs to mature some, she still is a girl to me when I see her on the red carpet.

I won't even mention Ashlee :yuk:

My two cents.

It annoys the bejesus out of me how so many tryhard style icons just HAVE to have 'Marilyn Moments'.

Seriously.

Ashlee, Lindsay, Christina!

But wouldn't you wanna dress up as Mariyln for a day if you could?!
