Maybe one never really is? :flower:

I used the same bag almost every day for about three years, that is my record so far.. Now I have a few bags that I rotate after mood but I need one to 'complete' the selection. I like the Birkin because it's practical and timeless, it ages very well. I do not want a stiff Birkin to have on display, I want one to be a part of and ease my ordinary life.

^ Personally I think it's a great idea...you seem to know yourself well enough to be able to say "this is a bag I will carry for a long time".

It's funny...I was looking through my bag collection the other day and, while I still love them, there are several that get very little wear...it occurred to me at the time that I could have saved the money and got an Hermes Constance .

Plus (to be a true enabler), prices will only go up...

i carried my fendi bag only for more than 5 years straight- both day and night...
and only retired it when the fendi baguette became so popular...
* couldn't stand being just one of the masses...:p

but now it's back in heavy rotation and is still the best bag...

if it's the right bag and is classic enough...i think it is totally worth the investment...
if you think about how often you wear it and spread the cost out over a lifetime..then it really isn't so bad, imo...
as long as you aren't still buying new bags
^_^

Style advices for girls with average-ish body

I was just wondering if there is any site of forum (or something like that) that would contain ideas how to dress when your size is not 0
:flower:

We have here a curvy thread, a pear-shaped thread, and a plus-size thread. Do any of those address what you're looking for? :flower:

I just realised that I'm torn between two different styles...
I was always thinking about Marilyn Monroe as my style icon - you know, all these glamour, classic pieces, pencil skirts & red lipstick.
but I also love this whole grunge/punk-ish/scruffy image, with ripped jeans & studs, just like Patti Smith or... I don't know, Kate Lanphear?

I've been thinking about my style so much lately & I don't have idea what should I do... try to mix? or wait and see what will be easier, more natural & more obvious to me? how to find "the middle" style?

any advice welcome :flower:

^ Complete & polar opposites  Sorry I don't have advice for you ... but I'm sure someone will ;)

I love Patti Smith, music and look. I think Kate Lamphear does a good job toning down the look to make it more classic. I think waiting to see what is natural for you would probably be the best idea. If you're looking for a mix, maybe something like Deborah Harry?

"Scrapbooks" (a blog in my case) helps me immensely; any image, song or quote I feel fuels the imagination or craving, your style just grows on that. Fashion I believe is having the technicality in the perfect fit, trends and only a minor part in what plays into your wardrobe. I'm seventeen and have a far time to be expanding on what I feel is right for myself but keeping in mind what looks good on your body, what I find attractive in whichever it may be, slowly a sort of a 'one persons style' develops.

But what I do like in say, style icons, a lot of the time they know what appeals to them and for me, gives you an new idea of wearing a specific clothing item. Kate for intents can have that typical Paris, rock and roll image but the woman knows how to wear black and white at the finest. Even the most basic of pieces manage to appeal ultra chic and put together.

Change your style with your mood. I have more than 2 styles and it is no problem unless you are trying to have a minimalistic wardrobe. To me it seems boring to dress the same style everyday.

my personal style is debbie harry meets catherine deneuve...
audrey hepburn meets chrissie hynde...

combining glamour and grunge could be quite fabulous and cool in my opinion...

plus...total glamour and total grunge are both inappropriate for certain situations...
so...you can go more glam or more grunge depending on the occasion...

hope this helps...

fine tuning the wardrobe and the look right now...
been trying clothes on for days....
:ninja:

sorting...
stuff that needs to be put away in storage...
stuff that needs to come OUT of storage..
stuff that needs to be repaired...
stuff that needs to be altered...
stuff that i need to sell...
stuff that i need to donate...
what fits...
what doesn't...
what older pieces work with the newer pieces...

etc...etc...etc...

:p

it's exhausting...
:ninja:

I am having boot issues... as I can never find my size in boots I often have to size up, but I can never be sure whether it looks ridiculous or not, being so petite.

And I have completely fallen for a pair which are a bit on the long side.

Hmm... I just wonder whether I can make them work... hmm... if I balance them...:innocent:

Does anyone else ever have this problem?

^Well, I am a UK 3 which is generally not too difficult to find, but sometimes I've bought UK 4s and I find them hard to walk in because they are too big - are you OK walking in them? I think other than that practical problem it shouldn't look strange as people don't really focus on feet massively. Even if they do, I have a friend whose about 5'2 but has UK 7 feet and it is not noticeable at all.

^^ I think it probably only looks strange to you because you're used to your feet being the size they are. I would think a size larger feet would still be proportional.

i tried on a bunch of my fall clothes with pointy toe shoes
and they suddenly looked so much better....:p

pucci - I'm about 5'2" and a size 37 shoe ... I don't think I look particularly out of proportion  So I wouldn't worry about it. Whether buying a size up is actually comfortable is another issue entirely.

laika - what shoes are these? I'm also loving pointy toe shoes again. Not super pointy, but a soft point ... Dries has been doing really good pointy shoes lately.

Now that fall clothes are in and I'm trying to decide what to buy, I've been thinking about the wardrobe a lot ... trying to be practical without turning into a mommy-in-the-park disaster. I'm thinking this means low heel or flat boots, cross body purses, cotton smock tops, unstructured blazers and coats, and jeans (a bit boring perhaps). Some dresses that button down the front. Luckily I have many workable things already, but I would like to add at least another smock top to the wardrobe. Although I did just buy a silk dress, which, despite the practical button front, is probably not the smartest fabric choice right now. It's hard to change!

I was kinda apprehensive about pairing a white dress with black tights. I like the look and it's a great deviation from the expected black dress and black tights.
