Raf Simons Leaving Christian Dior; Maria Chiuri Rumored In

Stefano Pilati would be a great choice!

Olivier Rousting.... HELL NO!!!

He's very good but he's too fame hungry for a house with such prestige as Dior, he would make it vulgar and filled with overexposed celebrities...

Dior is this cruel and fascinating monster that has lived by its name more than its fabrics over the last years. I'm not sure lots of designers are excited or brave enough to enroll into this.

Simons is pointing out the major issue of such houses : 6 collections per year (with 5 shows !) that's way too much and transform designers into mere "creative" boxes challenging time. Rarity is luxury, patience is luxury and nowadays we have no time to digest a collection, a universe that we are already moving on a new concept.

Wise decision for Simons to have stepped back from there before LVMH sucked all his creative energy.

Many people think the resort ones chez Chanel are the best KL does, but they are done by a complete different team. He just gives the ideas and a bunch of sketches and that's it.
But that hasn't been the case for a long time now. He is totally involved with Chanel (all lines). But that's the case at Fendi. He design the runway line and oversees the Resort & Prefall. If i'm not wrong, Marco de Vicenzo is still working at Fendi.

And for the resort, i still believe that the Seoul collection was his worst ever resort/prefall collection. Very very bad.

I really believe that you cannot past that unless you are independent. Dries Van Noten doesn't do resort, Alaia neither. Saint Laurent are like a continuation of everything.

Dior is a really complicated house. And to think that the next designer will have to do the 1950's New Look again is already boring.

It says a lot that a house like Dior doesn't attrack more designers.
I believe Zac Posen is still waiting...somewhere:lol::lol:

So true!! It's funny how at the mere mention of his name, people bring up the Kardashians/vulgar celebrities. It just proves how his work appear secondary to his 'star status'.

I walked into the Dior boutique in SoHo yesterday for the first time in awhile and the clothes were just ghastly. So overworked, so cheaply done, and just not at all desirable. The F/W 2015 and Pre-Fall 2015 were sort of blended together, resulting in a terrible mishmash of colors. Not one piece seemed flattering for someone living a real life. Not to mention I counted eight salespersons and store associates just standing around. Not a good look at all for a global megabrand.

I can't help but think of how overwhelming it must be to command a huge house like Dior, and how something so pivotal like merchandising can easily fall through the cracks. Now that I think about it, who in their right mind would want to take on such a monumental task?

But F/W 15 was one of the simplest collection's he's done... I can't imagine it looking messy at all but if you say so..

On the store rack they were really pushing the multi-colored animal print dresses and jumpsuits, which jarred when placed right alongside the more somber palette of the Pre-Fall collection.

Alber is leaving Lanvin! Million bucks says he's moving to Dior.

ALBER OVER RICARDO ANY DAY!!

I don't think Ricardo is capable of respecting the Dior heritage, he'll bring over his dark, religious signature to the brand. And it seems he's pretty happy where he is. Olivier Rousteig (don't like him enough to care about the spelling) won't happen.. he seems incredibly happy where he is and is at the height of his success.

Alber has the ability to restore the femininity factor that has been lost these past few years and make everything incredibly modern all while respecting the brand's heritage. He would be perfect.

I vote either Alber or Olivier T

As I said in the other thread, I don't think Alber is going to Dior due to the excessive work load.

I feel like an announcement from Givenchy could be any day now about Riccardo's departure. Dior has lost a lot of relevance in the last couple of years and I could see Riccardo being brought in to revive the image and make it "cool."

So... someone sort of said in the Lanvin thread that Elbaz is going to Dior. I don't know how I feel about it. I'm just too tired of Lanvin and his aesthetics. Lanvin shows were always the same. Always the same silhouette, the same vibe, the same dress over and over again... And that was with just two shows per year, if you have 6... things get worse. I'm afraid it will be boring. And I can't imagine him doing something that feels new. He might be another Marc Bohan. But I should just wait and see.

Plus, Alber had this nonchalance and this sort of Parisien chic that I can't imagine at Dior. Dior is more self-aware...

I'd be quite happy to see Alber at Dior. He's one of the last great designers and the only would who could agreeably design almost any where.

Personally, I always thought the Wertheimers were secretly keeping him on hold to do Chanel where I think he'd manage an outstanding and seamless transition. That could very well be true, who knows what news is going emerge in the next few weeks.

It would be such a coup for Arnault to get Alber to do Dior. He'd finally have a talent who could turn the house into a real competitor to rival Chanel. He's obsessed with Chanel and with Karl. It's the prize he cannot obtain and he so desperately wants a Dior that could become that which he cannot have. He can have it with Alber.

The question is: Can Alber be bothered?

I would love to see Albert doing couture! And he would definitely feel more right at Dior than Tisci.

I wrote yet in another thread, i wish Elbaz in Dior, not because of creativity , sorry but i think he will anyway better that Simons.
Simons, how i understand, will stay at home and design for his Label, really , think he will do it, i can see Simons in high Fashion after one year, not before, not because nobody want him, no, because of him. In Simons case it seems he wants to have a "holiday", in his case i don't feel he has this Passion to do high fashion, haute couture and to create Dior Look, to make it recognizable. Maybe, for sure, he will be back in some famous Label but not in 2016. Seems to me. Because than there were any reason to leave Dior and after few monthes goes in another famous Label. IMO.

Elbaz made a lot for Lanvin and after 14 years they fired him... I hope Dior is waiting of him.
I would like also to see Riccardo Tisci in Dior because it can be interesting to see what he will do with Dior, how he will reinvent it?

I'm not fan of Olivier Rousteig or exactly- i'm not a fan of Kardashians clan but it's really start to be like a soap opera, so everything is possible, inklusive Olivier Rousteig in Dior ( with Kardashians  and Instagram selfies  of all of them)
Yesterday i saw some Reportage from some red carpet, Kim Kardashian was in white Valentino dress. It was absolutely OUT. No-Go.

Try as I might to think it's Alber going to Dior, I just don't see it happening.

Dior said that the atelier will create the next collection which made me think it's because the new Creative Director can't start until after that. Tisci's contract with Givenchy will be up, so I have a sneaking suspicion that they're just waiting for him to finish out his contract.

I also wonder if the guys at Balenciaga regret making such a hasty decision and wishes they'd waited more before appointing Demna. They could have snatched up Alber.
