Raf Simons Leaving Christian Dior; Maria Chiuri Rumored In

The streets are talking about Riccardo being the top contender for it. He has good relations with Delphine Arnault and has proved himself + he doesn't have his own brand and can be totally devoted to his mission.

Ghesquiere can't leave Vuitton. His contract hasn't expired yet.

As for Theyskens, he may be a favorite of us but his career is not really his best advertising + we don't know if he can maintain Dior's new modernized aesthetic.
But, he has a good profile (he is not commited with another major brand or his own house).

Maybe we will see an LVMH prize finalist being promoted to one of the LVMH brand.

I really like what Hedi does at Saint Laurent, but I'd love to see Raf there. I think that's the perfect place for him (e.g. Jil sander S/S11 and F/W11).

Raf at hermes would be good, I don't know about saint Laurent but I'd prefer him over Hedi. I do think olivier can do a modern and romantic aesthetic, I feel like that's always been his thing. Dior was one of my favorite brands that got me to love fashion, I wish that magic could come back again and I think only olivier could bring that love for the clothes and not just marketing gimmicks

If Tisci goes to Dior who the hell is going to go to Givenchy?

The expressionless and damp-haired waif, with her structured neutral outfits which dominates both mainstream and indie magazines alike actually feels like a replica of his 'modern woman'. So while I might not be a fan of anything he's done for Dior, I cannot deny the effect he's had on fashion over these past 3 years.

I agree with most of what you say, but I cannot stand by this. That waif you speak about had already come under the auspices of Phoebe at Celine. He may have amplified it through the much bigger platform that is Dior, but I couldn't credit him with such a wide influence, mainly due to his off beat, mediocre tenure at the brand.

Apparently he was in talks back when Galliano was fired but an agreement couldn't be reached. Rumor had it Marc and his business partner Robert Duffy both wanted $10 million a year.

No Marc Jacobs please, finally he is out at LV, cannot suffer another lack of good taste.

Riccardo leaving Givenchy? I don't think that's a distinct possibility. Profitability-wise he has been the most successful designer at the house after the constant shifting of names before him I think that would be a huge mistake to move him at such a crucial stage in the brand building its new identity.

I'd love to see Marc at Dior, I think he has that level of dramatics that needs to be at the house but he's worked with that structure of churning product out and making it profitable such as the introduction of Resort and Pre-Fall. I think welcoming a new designer who isn't used to that would be naive to throw them in at the deep end. I'm all for supporting new names and new faces - I think that was one thing that overwhelmed Raf at Dior, was the pace and how many collections he had to produce and I think that was why at times his collections weren't as strong as they would have been if he was doing 4 RTW collections a year with more thought, time and effort behind them.

^ Revenue at Givenchy is 220m, while that of Dior is 2.01b. I would totally go for it if I were Riccardo, too much potential to explore there.

I would like to see what Riccardo can do in Dior but i agree with you, i think he will stay at Givenchy, in 2011 they wanted him to replace Galliano, he answered that he is happy where he is.
Marc Jacobs, can be, why not but in 2011, when Dior had been looking for one designer to replace Galliano, in 2011 Jacobs and his business partner Robert Duffy wanted a salary in excess of $10 million and they didn't take him -or them both.
In 2011 also was the name of Alber Elbaz as possible candidate.

Newcomer at the helm of Dior? Sincerely,i hope not or it must be one genius.
Sure, they knows yet who will be,maybe they have 2-3 candidates to choose or to negotiate but it will takes time till they will make the official statement. If i don't mistake ,Dior announced that the collection for PFW will be make by Dior team, BUT here Comes the question, who will design Dior Haute Couture collection?
( i don't remember where i readed about Pre-Fall 2016 or Fall-winter 2016 but same time will be also HC Shows)

He has been the most successful designer at Givenchy but after 15 years, we can already see signs of a fading creativity.
Now, with Riccardo, they have found a real aesthetic that i'm sure they will carry on.
In a way, Givenchy is a less complicated than it was 10 years ago. They needs to find someone fresh and popular who is not afraid of celebrity.

When you look at the success of Olivier Rousteing who never really had a big hit collection, you realize that today fashion is much more about the social aspect than the real clothes.

RAF FOR HERMES COULD BE A REAL DREAM!
What their new designer is doing is so boring and beige...

And at hermes, he will be able to go to his art exhibitions!

Refresh my memory..who actually wears Dior?

Besides celebs & key people on the red carpet, almost always in the name of PR, I'm not sure.

That being said, you'll get a big "Whoop dee doo" from me when asked who'll take over next at Dior.

^ well if tisci comes we know exactly who will - i shudder at the thought of that.

i think they just need a marriage between things, for example i did not see raf's relation to rihanna at all. their dior bag ad campaigns were just terrible and so far from what he was doing (which was amazing)

^^Kim K..in a rehashed New Look gown? Haha--that's perfect fodder for South Park!

Absolutely.
Advertising with Rihanna was good but it there wasn't any Simons Rihanna "relation". I can't imagine Rihanna in one of this dresses which Simons had created. Also in HC A/W 2015-2016.

I don't think Tisci will replace Simons, i would like to see him at the helm, it can be very interesting to see how he can reinvent Dior. But Tisci want- is- will going to Haute Couture back, so will he leave all this, i think no.

Designers are no longer important... They are so easily replaceable. CEOs just have to think who will create buzz for two seasons, take advantage of the hype the next five seasons, wait to see if it keeps working and then find another one.

That's exactly what happens when offer is greater than demand.

It is also the exact same way thing with modelling.
