Raf Simons Leaving Christian Dior; Maria Chiuri Rumored In

Correct me if I'm wrong but, in the documental Signe Chanel They started the F/W 2004 Couture collection a month before, didn't they ?

Yes if i remember well. They started just after the presentation of the resort and while finishing orders from the previous Couture collection.
But Karl is drawing so maybe it's something that can be take into consideration...

Karl is on auto-pilot at this point, I'm not sure he's the strongest example to use. And I think Miucca has a free pass, too. the 'heritage' for the Prada brand isn't steeped in history; it's more an abstract 'oh look what Prada came up with this time' sort of thing, whereas anybody going into Dior is going to have to face the 'new look' and incorporating the brand's heritage into the design...which IMO is harder than making collections that are incongruous season to season.

I sort of agree with Lola, too, but three weeks for a Dior collection sounds totally ridiculous. And he says at the beggining he had more time (8 weeks I think) and he still thought it was not that much. Seven people for... how many garments? How many toiles can you do in three weeks to get the things right? To me it sounds totally crazy.

He said they have 3 weeks per collection... 6 times 3 equals 18. So, what are they doing the 34 weeks that's left of a year? Does he mean the design is done in 3 weeks and then the ateliers work on the collections for longer? Or that the 3 weeks includes design, fittings+sewing but they do the research, fabrics etc beforehand? It's very hard to believe that everything could be done in 3 weeks if they start from ideas.

Also makes me question how much time he had at Jil Sander if he thought that 8 weeks for his first dior couture was little? Then again, his Jil Sander collections were beautiful, well-made and had a stronger message and look than the ones he created for Dior so maybe he had months and the pre-collections were separate teams.

I would love to see Joseph Font from Delpozo taking his place. Although I have a feeling we might have a surprise, something like Frida Giannini :D

I think really interesting things are happening under Delpozo right now that shouldn't be ignored. After seeing his clothes up close I'm like

^Well, Josep Font has done Haute Couture collections in Paris and his technique is impeccable.

George5, it's true, but the Chanel Haute Couture design process is very different to the rest of the houses. There are some other collections that have been done in three weeks (some from Miu Miu), but those houses are more... simple.

I guess They're waiting a bit until things settle down ? Seriously, I have the feeling that on any minute LVMH will post a press release saying that Riccardo or Alber is the new Creative Director

So... no HC show for January?

Haute Couture from Sunday, January 24th to Friday, January 29th, 2016
9 weeks till HC Week, r-t-w will be designed by team and r-t-w in March, who will do HC?

I'll be very surpise if they take Alber. This "Lanvin story" works in this case against him.

It can be done by design team, just like their f/w 11.12 couture.

If i don't mistake they announced yet r-t-w will be done by team. R-t-W will done by one Team, HC by second Team.
If it really will be done by 2 Teams than Dior risks to loose the buyers and also customers.
In 2011 it was unexpected, in 2015 they knew Simons will leave.
Till now Dior didn't announced who will do HC, i didn't find any news about Dior, had somebody read something new about Dior?

i would like to see gaultier or lacroix helm dior couture...

I would like to see Lacroix, I think him or Theyskens. But last time Dior played the designer musical game he was Lacroix was barely mentioned

What season is Raf's last? Is he doing the coming couture?

Two choices Mr Arnault will never consider.
Gaultier decided to do Haute Couture because after Gianfranco Ferre left, he wanted to do the Couture for Dior. But Mr Arnault offered Givenchy to him.
Touched in his ego (being offered Givenchy seemed like he wasn't talented enough for Dior), he decided to do his own Haute Couture.

And Lacroix, i doubt that he will ever work for something related to LVMH. After the disaster of his house and the bad figures of Pucci...

There are rumors that he is going to Calvin Klein. I would like to see that. Hope it is true.

You mean Raf Simons is going to Calvin Klein?
But it has no sense, IMO.
Not better to design for his own brand?

Oh yes, i'd love that. That's where he can do minimalism well.

I really liked what Costa did around 2008-2010 but what he does now is quite ugly and stale.
