Raf Simons Leaving Christian Dior; Maria Chiuri Rumored In

Guys, there's a lot of reasons why someone like Theyskens wouldn't want to work for LVMH. I know it sounds crazy but it's not always in a person's best interest to sign up with these huge conglomerates. We don't know what's going on in his life and who knows what the terms of the contract were.

Sure, the terms of contract are always protecting the conglomerate interests. But with Theyskens is not so "easy", he wanted yet the double salary as Alexander McQueen's, than he refused to design for Oscar de la Renta because it could be a short-time contracts or maybe Long-time, who knows...
So, i mean, that maybe Dior -LVMH doesn't want Theyskens, we can't know what is going on but for sure this designers carousel can damage the image of the best brand in LVMH Empire.
I mean with Theyskens they will be not "save". IMO

If these rumors about Theyskens are true then I no longer feel bad for him for not having a job. Who does he think he is being this capricious and demanding? It's already been a decade since he's done anything relevant. And fashion won't wait for him forever. It may have already past him. I could understand someone with a successful namesake line doing all that, but him? I honestly hope it's either not true or there's more to it than we know because he doesn't come off well here.

I don't think we can safely judge him based on what we only hear. the negotiations that broke down were between him and those fashion houses and whatever they were, it was not deemed by him to be worth it. and guessing how stingy fashion houses can be with talent, I would even venture the problem might not be him. Dior needs to pick its image off of the floor badly. They can quietly try to put an unknown talent on the highest chair - it may or may not generate that much needed press for the house. Even if he hasn't done much for the past decade, his name is still better than Zac Posen, for example, and better than a no name at all.

Scoop: Sarah Burton Reportedly in Talks with Christian Dior

Sounds 'good'...

According to high-level sources in Paris, Sarah Burton is reportedly in talks to take over the creative reins at Dior after Raf Simons’ unexpected departure after three years in the role. A representative for Dior declined to comment. Burton, currently the creative director at Alexander McQueen, has been working for the brand for the past 19 years, and took over the top spot in May 2010 following the death of the brand’s founder. Several industry insiders had speculated that Alber Elbaz was a top candidate for the role, but we hear that the designer has other plans. Meanwhile, Lanvin is said to be courting London-based designer Erdem Moralioglu. Watch this space for developments.

So would someone else get mcqueen or would she stay there and do dior? How's she gonna spread her 5 dress ideas across two houses?

Well ok she's a good designer but when she tries too hard to emulate someone it falls flat, she's great with the feminine form though

Sara for Dior could work out quite well. She has the skills and talent to create incredibly beautiful things but it seems as if she's being held back at McQueen. I'm kind of excited about her going to Dior actually. She may have lost steam over the past few years but her first collections were striking.

Now who will go to McQueen if this is true? I'm getting tired of the revolving door already, every single year this has been happening.

If Sarah Burton will go to Dior it means she will leave McQueen. I don't think it will be possible for lond time design for two brands. And Mcqueen menswear? She did it too.

Here is some interesting quote:

The last few months of 2015 saw three major French houses - Balenciaga, Christian Dior, and Lanvin - all lose their creative directors, with only the former having named a replacement, Demna Gvasalia. Vaccarello has not been linked with either of the vacant jobs - probably because it is assumed that he is being groomed to take over at Versace one day - but Slimane's name is occasionally mentioned alongside the Dior job. Most fashion insiders see this as improbable, if not impossible, given Slimane's need for complete creative control, but also the fact that the house's breadth of design requirements - including couture and red carpet - so exceed Slimane's experience.

Read the full article there, it more about Vaccarello but there is this part about Slimane for Dior.

It can be a very big surpise... who knows?!
I can't imagine Slimane at Dior. And i can't imagine Vaccarello at YSL. They design a little bit similar, punk-rock but that is all.
Sincerely, i'm so sorry, but i like what Slimane does. Not all but some pieces are really good.
Vaccarello's collections for Versus were good at the beginning. S/S 2015 was perfekt. But after?

OMG NO! Sarah don't leave McQueen pleaseeeeeee.

Just when i was starting to believe the rumors in Paris of Alber taking Dior.
I was watching his shows and i started to believe that he was the best person for it.

Burton for Dior seems more believable than Slimane for Dior. Remember the "total creative control" thing.
Galliano had the total control only after he renewed his contract in 1999.

Hedi (if the rumours are true) should just launch his own brand.
And poor Donatella, everybody is stealing all her potential heirs (Kane and now Vaccarello).

And what will be with McQueen? Who can design for McQueen? If she will leave McQueen than it will not McQueen anymore, i mean that was Alexander McQueen's brand and she worked with him and than, after his suicide, she stept into his shoes, she started to do all that Lee would do also, maybe in last few years she started to Show her own personality in the design. I readed somewhere, i don't remember now , where exactly. It was her interviewif i don't mistake.
Is she ready to leave McQueen? Because design for two big ,really famous, brands, not every designer can, i don't speak about creativity and ideas which she must than have, for so many collections at the same time.

Me too, i was sure Alber, in this case, will replace Simons but it didn't happens and i have the feeling it be will not happen.

Sarah Burton for Dior? After reading that Vaccarello could go to YSL I thought I couldn't read anything CRAZIER. But, oh well, this is even worse.

Sarah has ZERO talent as a creative director or main designer. ZERO is ZERO. As a chief designer of a studio she might be wonderful, but just that.

^ I second both of those statements.

For crying out loud what is happening with the world? All we need now is for Chanel to fire Karl because of a possible tax evasion scandal and we can send fashion to hell.

^^Now, now, don't be so dramatic. In the grand scheme of "the world", who's going to be making pretty dresses for the rich really amounts to a whole bunch of nothing, really.

Oh, Sarah... What a random candidate for Dior. I have nothing against her, actually, She knows how to drape a nice gown but this woman has zero personality and attitude. I'm sure if She takes that role Dior and McQueen will blend together without distinction between each other. We had Raf who albeit built a visually recognizable but void of conviction aesthetic; now We could have Burton who I think will go in the same direction.

I never even considered Sarah because frankly I can't picture her leaving McQueen, nor I see anyone who could take her place there... but if it's true, it would be FANTASTIC. And I strongly disagree with some of the comments here, she is BY FAR more talented and skilled than most of the designers working today. Her work McQueen has been nothing short of brilliant. She obviously would do Couture perfectly, as well as the commercial stuff. I just would love to see what she would do with the Dior aesthetic.

I'm rooting for this to happen!
