Raf Simons Leaving Christian Dior; Maria Chiuri Rumored In

I never even considered Sarah because frankly I can't picture her leaving McQueen, nor I see anyone who could take her place there... but if it's true, it would be FANTASTIC. And I strongly disagree with some of the comments here, she is BY FAR more talented and skilled than most of the designers working today. Her work McQueen has been nothing short of brilliant. She obviously would do Couture perfectly, as well as the commercial stuff. I just would love to see what she would do with the Dior aesthetic.

I'm rooting for this to happen!

But if she will leave McQueen who could replace her there?
I can't imagine her leaving McQueen but same time not every designer -and not every day, has a chance to become a creative director of Dior.
But,please, not for both brands in the same time.

Giles Deacon or Gareth P. can do McQueen! The brand is not so much about Lee's creativity anyway so...

All we need now is for Chanel to fire Karl because of a possible tax evasion scandal and we can send fashion to hell.

You underestimate the Weithemer's loyalty to Karl. In the early 90's, he had a scandal over the Coran embroidered dress and in the late 90's, a similar affair over taxes. They have always supported him. He will pay his 20 Millions.

He will leave Chanel like Mademoiselle did. The same for Fendi (he said his contract for Fendi will expire in 2045).

20 milllions in 6 years and the Money is from his privat money, Chanel is not involved in this scandal. He will pay, ( i can't find anymore, in which german newspaper or Magazine it was written)
Of course Wertheimers will not fired Karl about this "faux pas" .

Honestly...Sarah Burton? I still can't get over the suggestion! She's the Paris fashion week equivalent of Prabal Gurung and Altuzarra.

There's no subversion to her work. It's always so one-dimensional in its context and lacks any edge. While she is clearly capable of making beautiful things every once and a while, she isn't making anything that feels relevant or contemporary. So why give her Dior?

Sorry i forgott to write the source ( finally i found where i readed it), it is in german that's why i don't post as Quote. But very interesting.
German digital Edition of the newspaper "Die Welt" , exactly "Die Welt. Icon Der Lifestyle der Welt "

"20 milllions in 6 years and the Money is from his privat money, Chanel is not involved in this scandal. He will pay." wrote Inga Griese, the Chef editor of "Die Welt.Icon"

Agree. She is talented but is she talented enough, or fit enough, to be a creativ director of Dior? Dior is not McQqueen. Dior and Chanel are the most iconic, the most famous brands all around the world. Everybody knows this brands.

Sarah Burton???
No thanks! Bad idea IMO!

So is this official???

They edited the post now as a rumor, no confirmation yet.

It can't be possible. Having Olivier, Alber or someone unknown they can't go for this girl. I rather have someone from NY.

I can't believe it will take almost a year to decide this... It's just so boring.

Agree.
Hope it's not official.
She has talent, no doubt about it, and she is creative but her collections are boring, in every collection there are awesome pieces but the rest is boring. Is she fit enough for Dior?
No, please... i would like to see somebody who can do shows as Galliano did.

The announcement will probably be made in time for PFW in March so then her first outing can be Couture next July...

Seems about right. I was thinking that if they already have the deal made why don't let her debut on F/W 16, but seems like the McQueen show in London will serve as her farewell and so they can make a big hyped spectacle for her debut at the Couture show like Raf's debut.

Ugh! Sarah! I'm still hoping the rumor will turn out not to be true. She's a glorified bridal designer, in my book.

^^^ She is LOL

I can’t help but root for her a little since she’ll finally be able to escape Groundhog Day at McQueen. Poor women’s been rehashing McQueen the Man’s old collections and concepts over and over— it was just a matter of time before she really ran out of gas.

If she’s at Dior, maybe she’ll finally be allowed to flex those amazing dressmaker muscles she’s always been strong at and combined with the house’s awesome team, really offer something fresh. Trying to be hopeful...

The thought of Sarah at Dior makes me cringe ! I do not think she has the diverse and wide vision to handle Dior. What she did at McQueen was boring, overworked, and simply ugly at times. I really do not want this to happen, but it seems it is. So many talented and unknown designers out there !

We are honestly making a mountain out of a molehill. This is not going to happen. Everyone knows that she won't be able to maintain Dior's machinery for more than four of seasons. Her look would be beyond burnt in two years. She's a one trick pony and Dior shows six collections per year. There's no 'fashion' in her offerings, she can just make 'dresses'. There's no depth at all in her collections, she hasn't a 'vision', she has no charisma. I would be beyond shocked to see her in the second most important brand of the world. It sounds really crazy.

I think they should slow down first and then find a new designer, because nobody will be able to come up with some fresh ideas every season.

After seeing her last pre-fall I want say that I would be really dissapointed with Sarah at Dior. Her vision is so limited yet she creates a lot of beautiful dresses. Still she would be better as a right-hand of someone more... creative? or more brave.
