Raf Simons Mens F/W 13.14 Paris

Yeah I want pretty much everything.. not really understanding the bars across the chest though. That camel jacket with the single button just beneath the chest is incredible.. sans bar.

Figures, with my crazy taste...I LOVE the bars across the chest. It reminds me of something similar from Comme Des Garcons..or Westwood....a chest belt.

But here, it's done differently in Raf's extremely minimal esthetic...there is no chest/belt-buckle.

I'm also seeing something peculiarly similar going on with this collection, and Prada's most recent collection for men....the shirt collars popping out haphazardly from underneath the garments??

Spot on. I was worried about this collection, considering his new position at Dior and the upcoming couture show. But this is spot on! I want it all!

I actually have a VERY similar shirt by Raf from the late 90's.....it has the identical butterfly-collar....but mine is detachable with tiny snaps under the smaller collar.

He's done this similar collar, before.

If only what he made at dior was this WONDERFUL! This for me is the best menswear collection of the season , its very different and a total game changer. The colors, the cuts, and the big collars, it is reminding me of the mid late 90s, but fashion was more exciting for menswear in those days.

Oh....and with all the designers out there who are now jumping on the "cape" bandwagon.....the Italian collections were LOADED with them....take a look at THIS collection from Raf Simons from the year 1999-2000. 12 YEARS AGO!!

Raf is lite-years ahead of most designers!!

I loved the past 2 collection from him but this I don't like at all. Also the jackets with bars look like a bad copy of Balenciaga S/S 2012

i was going to say, some of this is actually reminding me an awful lot of some of his archives. the sleeveless coats....the prim jumpers....the boyish trousers. it's just a bit more exaggerated....somewhat more exuberant and less severe.

btw, with the shirts with the bow-ties,the bars on the coats could represent a very modern take on early romanticism especially in battle attire. they did have a lot of that sort of detail. in fact, there is something in this in just the way some of the detailings on the neck and sleeves pop that have a romantic feel.

This is fantastic. Totally a reminder he's innovative and does menswear and minimalist so well. I actually don't mind the chest bar at all. It's a refreshing new way to do color block. I love how the collection has the retro vibe but at the same time looks modern. Raf is one of few designers who can do that. Hopefully, this indicates something towards upcoming Dior HC. Something refreshing and new.

I'm going to be a party-pooper here and say this is all very design student project looking.

It's not just the clownish/Brady Bunch retro-vibe I despise, it's the cheap-looking circus color palette that verges on depressing. I've never been fond of his use of color, I always found it flat, but at least it was minimally and the cuts were solid. I don't like the cuts and silhouettes, it's very languid, very feminine here. I thought perhaps the hi-res would reveal something I missed... nope, the materials are as unappealing as the cuts and colors to me. There's not a single saving grace here. Some people always say "if it wasn't Prada..." And in this case, I'll say: If it wasn't Raf, I wonder if some would be so fond of it?
