Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garcons for H&M Designer Collection

Awww...that sucks..there were quite few in my hm store, but the 36 went fast as something really fast :P

I thought there wouldn't be any people at the opening here in Vienna, since most people don't even know what Comme des Garcons is ( ), but there were crazy women stealing things of each others hands and arguing about who saw what first, etc...

I only tried on two shirts and a skirt (I didn't even get to the jackets, I only saw the trench up close). In the end I only bought the perfume, which I'm going to sell on ebay...

I think most people just buy whatever they can get their hands on, because "it's cool"... I think the pieces are overpriced for H&M quality, tbh.

it just bewilders me the hype this has been. i know we predicted a less than genuine following but i am appalled. celebs(and others)who are otherwise really not comme fans nor comme types--sorry to sound a bit snobby, but seriously, all of these generics...??? it is indeed so obvious that mischa barton has never worn cdg. i mean where are all the interesting, real fans in the midst of this sea of tripe?

I agree, I think so much of it is just pure hype. It's been the same thing every year though, people who have never been fans of even heard of the designer rush to the store. I guess we could say that H&M has done their job very well. :D

Especially this year the whole collection was so "gothic" and different that I really wonder if the celebs and public actually even like it..doub it..

I think the black jacket dress is something the gothic lolitas from Hel-looks.com would crave for... hahaha

i think i'm gonna see and check on saturday ....
but in my town i'm not sure the menswear is not about to disappear as fast as the womenswear ....
how is it going for men in the boutiques, then ?
and is the quality sthg btw the real cdg and h&m ? or is it purely h&m quality ?

I am so jealous of you guys! I am currently stuck in a place where H&M is non-existent. :D I found a contact from Norway though who promised to get me some stuff I want from the collection, but I'm not sure if she was able to get her hands on those... I'm still waiting for her e-mail..

wow. so is it sold out already? which store were you at? i wanted to attend the launch at the Graben store, but the rain turned me off lol.

^I was at the Graben store, that's the only one carrying every piece. When I left after half an hour they were still restocking, I don't know if it's sold out now. The other stores (Kärntner Straße & Mariahilfer Straße) only have a few select pieces (tees, shirts & shoes, mostly) and there is still a lot of stuff left...

I've just visited one of the 3 shops carrying the collection. I was there around 12:20. I've chosen the less central one to be sure it would not be overcrowded. Indeed there were not many people... but most of the things were gone. Obviously people arrived very early. I could get a trench (there were only 2 left), a cardigan, a white shirt and sneakers. A guy just picked the last peacoat in front of me.
The quality is very good as I expected from CDG.

it was incredible full, I could only grab the zipper jacket, the other items were sold out so quickly. I did not expect such a run in my city, so unbelieveable.

i got myself the trenchcoat (really really nice! i love it!) and the blazer/jacket, which comes in the same fabric as the trench. both look pretty good on.
I also got a skirt, which i will return. it just looks totally strange on.....

did anyone else notice that trench was sold in two color - dark blue and black?

I actually don't care if people have heard of the actual designer or the brand or whatever, I mean if you're into clothes but not really designer and you want something from the HM designer collection why the h'ell not?

verene and shirlebee, you must post sources for your images or they will be deleted.

I'm so ecstatic!! My contact in Norway got me the bag!! Hee hee! :D

there was maybe a million trench coats left over in both h&m's i went to. personally i thought it was way too expensive for the quality and model, it wasn't at all different from what they normally carry.

i got myself the ruffle shirt, really wanted the tuxedo jacket but they didn't have it in the h&m i went to (although it said otherwise on the website, GRHRHHHRHRR!). i was a bit let down by the quality and perhaps the collection altogether. the polka dot thing made half the items seriously unappealing, and the shoes could have been far more interesting IMO! still happy with my shirt though :D looks pretty amazing on!

Perhaps they are able to see through the hype? :innocent:
