Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garcons for H&M Designer Collection

sooo...i went to the opening on thursday at Bristol Cabot Circus and i have to say i was so dissapointed. there was like no selection and there was alot left over. i bought like 2 t-shirts and a shirt but it really wasnt worth getting up at 5am for.

i thought i wanted to take part in this, but the behavior i've read about here is appalling.. there were a couple things i liked but not so much that i'm willing to tackle someone over whatever i can get my hands on.. that's just ridiculous and sad

i love Rei, but i'm turned off by how much of a phenomenon this has become.. i don't care how elitist that sounds..

I agree wholeheartedly !!! The H&M pieces were OK but nothing to lose sleep over !!! Yes I checked it out on Thursday and queued for 30 mins but no way was I going to fight through a crowd. That's just stupid !!! CDG mainline collections are much nicer and better quality. Yep they are pricey but they last for ages and transcend trends that the reason we love rei !!!! I'm moving on to thinking about what I like from her fab s/s 09 collection.

Well I'm very happy^_^ I got everything I wanted, the big polkadot button down (the rich blue color is really nice in person) the dropcrotch and jodhpur pant (<-the quality was alot better than I expected..) and my dignity is still in place :P I only lost two hours of sleep to line up there at 6, I missed three of my classes but there was nothing important or due that day, and I didn't have to kill anyone, I just shoved wherever I needed to move after all it was such a small area it was encased in. And I love these items enough to not regret the loss of money, sleep, and classtime. I've already gotten so many compliments and I'm tellin' ya, they're alot of fun to pull off, alot of arsekicking outfits came out of this. I don't see myself losing these in the back of the closet anytime soon.

I agree with what alot of you are saying about the overrated hype and monstrosities that have exploded out of this. Thankfully I'm not ashamed of my efforts, I was no beast, I was just lucky to find the pants. I just hated how some of the people were so dazzled by some of these polkadot basics and whatever, like that $70 cardigan, the shoes, etc. such lousy quality I can't even understand..

if you guys didn't get lucky and the stuff won't sell that well for the ebay resellers, they'll be returning most of it in like 2 weeks. H&M got a 1 month return policy, so when those bastards can't sell it for inflated prices on ebay cause people won't put up with their bullcrap, they'll just get the purchase price back at the store, just before the 1 month limit is over.

it happened like this already with previous collabos, i don't see why it would be very different this time. some people just won't pay those ebay sellers' insane prices.

^ Your right never thought of that going back in 3 weeks that is a great idea

Kimkhuu,

In the women's section... lots of peacoats (black and navy), pola dotted cardigans (brown and red/burgundyish, cream polkadots), plain shirts (non ruffled), asymetrical sweaters, polka dotted shirts, very few blazers left (maybe they'll be gone today!).

what about the men's clothes?

I got those two trousers too, at the store on Lex--was def. the best location in new york as far as I can tell. I got there right at nine, didn't wait in line at all, and got both pairs, in my size, without any struggle. :D

I agree that the polka dot pieces were pretty disappointing, quality-wise, but the pants are really beautiful--gorgeous fabric, excellent construction and fit. I was also very impressed with the fabric and finishing of the boiled wool jackets.

btw, comme has started their sale, and they have identical versions of both trousers, and the trench in store. Different fabrics of course, but if anyone is interested, I would definitely splurge there rather than pay those crazy resellers on Ebay! :flower:

Anyone in Toronto know if anything is left? If so, which location? Thanks in advance.

here in stockholm, i see them selling not so fast, still see many piece yesterday. Actually, i didn't found that dress, but i liked the black trench which i didn't buy.

they still had pieces in NY wen i
went..all of the good stuff was gone
from the mens section i dont know about the
womans though

ok went today. some stuff were left (the girl told me that it was mostly what people took back) ... and what was left was soo naze (how do you say this in english ? everything sucked ?!) some beige and black shirts and a tuxedo for men ... some pink and dots shirts + the balerina dress for women ...
oh and there were 2 pair of shoes for men, as well ... one that looks like converse (blue colour) + one zen-yoga black pair ....
what i saw was really bad (quality speaking) and i didn't even want to buy it as nothing was CDG spirit ....

There's quite a lot left on the danish online shop. It doesn't seem to be selling that well.

^well from what i noticed, most of the mens seemed pretty much like trickled down basics of the basics she does with Shirt. not as strong, imo. if it was available to me at my H&M,i think the only things i would have even walked out with would have been that trench coat and maybe one of those cardigans. it really would have been lovely if she reintroduced an H&M version of that much-lusted tartan biker jacket she did a couple seasons ago.

laika,so glad you had a pleasant venture. a true rarity it appears.

Today I went one of the two stores in Helsinki that carried this and all the racks were empty, some mens stuff left...it's funny because they had a huge outside ad in the same shopping centre, hope they take them off soon...

I went at 2 H&M on my lunch break the day of the launch and didn't see a single jacket (the only items I might have got) except in the stores window...

Street_a_Licious- nooo the CDG collection has a 14 day return policy! how good is that!?

I'm very happy! All the deconstructed jackets have been going for around £150 on ebay but for some reason and some luck I got one for £60! I think it's because it was in the morning so not as busy a time for bidding. The RRP is £70 so that's great
I'm thinking of taking back the deconstructed skirt because it's a bit big and just looks like a school skirt with a bit sticking out. Idk though :/

Okay, I'm really really sorry for reposting this yet again, but it is something that I really need some help with. I really want to make my polkadot scarf have the same style as Missy in the campaign ads and on the mannequin on the site online. Does anyone have a clue how to do this????

wrap around the neck from the back and twice wrap it and make a loose, off kilter bow-style.
