Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garcons for H&M Designer Collection

Does Rei's collaboration with H&M have ANYTHING to do with H&M opening major flagship stores in Japan? Is H&M in Japan right now?

I'm really happy that H&M chooses a variety of designers for collaborations. I didn't really care for Cavalli's collection, but CDG is something more of my taste. Can't wait to see what the designs will be. Anyone know when this will be coming out?

The designs are going to come out in November and will be exclusively launched in the H&M store in Tokyo and a few days later released worldwide.

I didn't like the Cavalli collection either, nor did I really like Viktor & Rolf...looking forward to this though. I haven't really liked anything since Stella's collection in 2005.

i totally agree
i mean the cavalli collection was just ARHHH!!!!
my first impression of it was "same old same old"
altho cant wait to c this CdG collection for H&M

Are these capsules only released in flagship stores?? gah... i will drive to SF if I have to.. I can't wait for this.

i can't wait for this...i won't get my hopes up too high though..don't want to be disappointed

Hmm I think it would be better for them not to release any press , this collaboration is going to be so hyped and highly anticipated the ebay frenzy will be so much more worse than previous collections. Even if the clothes don't translate well , people will still use the cachet of her name as a selling point.

I've never bought anything from H&M, but this intrigues me. I'm assuming that the quality of collaboration collections is superior to those of the regular pieces? I really hope SF carries this :ermm:

^I know. I still don't quite believe it for some reason.
one thing that annoys me for sure though, is the amount of people that all of a sudden will call themselves long-time followers of Rei's work (when they never really cared or were just repulsed by her work).. it's probably silly of me to get annoyed by that but I just can't stand it.. they lined up for cavalli, will line up for rei and would even line up for ms pulitzer if she'd get an invitation too.. hype just gives me migraine..

this reminds me of the scene that accompanied stella mcartney's (who i abhor and despise) collab with target australia. the frantic scenes outside to get their hands on the clothes! and the people dind't try anything on, they just stuffed their baskets. AND they had no hope of fitting into them either. just because they see pics of celebs in some mind-numblingly dumb magazine wearing stella, they jump on it. stupid cows.

I'll be mooing all the way to H&M come November

yeah lol ....fashionista will be in b*tch n greedy mode once those doors at H&M open swing open at 9 am lol. The Cavalli collection with H&M was insane lol, people were clawing at the dress on the mannequin , women fighting over panties lol , just utter mob mentality lol , but instead they were attacking clothes lol.

Comme des Garcons for H&M

08 May 2008

H&M have announced their next collaborator, the Japanese fashion brand Comme des Garcons.
The famous avant-garde Japanese label, designed by Rei Kawakubo, have been chosen to create this autumn’s designer collection for H&M.

Creative advisor for H&M, Margareta van den Bosch said ‘Rei Kawakubo has been at the top of our wish list for a long time and we are thrilled that she has chosen to collaborate with us.’

Commes des Garcons has been a big influence on many trends and their designs have filtered down to the high street. Draped clothes, monochromatic and asymmetrical prints are among the brand’s popular designs.

The new H&M collection will bring experimental clothing to the high street for a fraction of the brand’s normal price. It will be launched at the chain’s second Tokyo store in November, followed by flagship stores a few days later. We can’t wait!

"Kawakubo disclosed that she's designed a red, pie-shaped shop concept that will house her Comme des Garçons for H&M collection in its entirety in 20 select locations, with smaller versions in a great number of doors come early November. She's also tapped photographer Peter Lindbergh for the campaign that will feature Missy Rayder, among others."
