My favorite video of him.. it's as inspiring now as the first time I watched it, except now feels more heartbreaking than anything.

I have been close to welling up all day. No words... Such a shock. What an amazing and inspirational man. I hope he has found peace :(

Can't believe it. I really can NOT believe it
Feeling increadibly sorry and sad about this tragic loss for the fashion industry (and his family, of course). May he rest in peace and will always be remembered for his amazing work.

The news that Alexander McQueen has killed himself is particularly devastating because it always felt to me like he’d be the last man standing. He was restless, but so pragmatic with it I assumed he had what it took to endure the extreme situations he placed himself in. He was also an arch romantic with a pessimistic streak. It produced some of the most beautiful, shocking images in the history of fashion, but it’s a state of mind that can lead to endless disappointments. The death of McQueen’s mother last week would have validated his pessimism. It would undoubtedly have taken away his most vital support. It’s awful to imagine him trying—and failing—to cope, and one can only hope that, if he was looking for peace, he found it. For everyone left behind, there will eventually be consolation, however scant right now, in a body of work whose power will never die.

There's so much to say, he inspired so many. Rest in peace and may his time here have inspired all create our dreams and bring the most imaginative pieces to life.

Thank you McQueen

this comes as an incredible blow not only to his friends and loved ones but to the fashion community as a whole. alexander mcqueen has pushed the boundaries of creativity and his shows stood as one of the most resonating visual experiences of the entire season. every season. the past twelve months will go down as some of the most depressing for the fashion world as we have lost so many voices due to financial ruin and now death. i cannot imagine what sort of negative pallor this will cast on ALL of the shows coming up over the next few weeks. who will want to celebrate new fashion or try to create a sense of optimism when one of our own has fallen so tragically.

I couldnt believe it when a friend told me. We will miss him!

I am speechless at the moment but thank you for putting in words some of the things I'm feeling.

Like most people here, I am heartbroken.

I just don't know how London is going to cope with this next week, it casts a very dark shadow over all the optimism London was starting to garner. So so sad!
