RIP Alexander McQueen CBE 1969 - 2010

I honestly think the works for the collection should be shown as a tribute, for people to see what he was working on but not push it or attempt to finish it.. let alone release it for sale. that would be.. outrageous.

Agree 100%. I'm sure his design team are devastated right now. It would be best to just leave it and maybe do a tribute show or a exhibition at the V&A Museum later this year or next.

I can't believe it! OMG! He's one of my favorites. Goodbye Alexander, you'll be missed

they were just talking about it on CNN. There are a lot of sketches but some looks have been made, which doesn't necessarily mean they're 'finished'.. I'm not sure the team will go as far as completing them, since a lot of the crucial changes were made by him during the last days or even minutes.. I honestly think the works for the collection should be shown as a tribute, for people to see what he was working on but not push it or attempt to finish it.. let alone release it for sale. that would be.. outrageous. but I can totally see that happening pretty much a la Jeff Buckley's 'Sketches for my sweetheart'..

I totally agree with you. They should show the looks just like he left them and not do anything else. I also think its way too early to talk about who's gonna take over the label, because I'm worried about it... There are many questions to be answered. This is just horrible... I dont even feel so ecxited about fashion week anymore...

i was so shocked when my friend told me. that's really sad  rest in peace, mcqueen

I couldn't believe it when I heard - such a loss for so many on a personal and artistic level. He was such an amazing inspiration and role model - so much talent and imagination. Sadly the most talented are often the most un-happy. I hope he is now free of his anguish.

Wow this was a shock. I read this on my Iphone at work and have been saddened ever since. Its just so sad to see such great people go so young. I really liked his work and feel that the label should end with him. There is no one who can or should take his place.

When I saw his name listed on Yahoo's homepage, I knew it in my gut that he had to have passed away. And despite that I'm still in shock over it. For me his passing is different from when Versace was killed and I was too young to realize the significance, or when Saint Laurent passed away long after he had established his place in the history of fashion and had given everything he had to give in the process. I can honestly feel this loss.

Looking back on all the times that he would end one of his shows with a single image that burned itself into your memory, it was like a reminder that beauty has to fade eventually, so you have to make sure to appreciate it that much more while you have it.

This is a monumental loss.:heart:

Why couldn't be some idiot like Paris Hilton?

Always has to be people that actually contribute to society. D:

Thank you for everything you did for the fashion world, Maestro.

Gosh i'm in shock!
RIP

I'm devastated that he felt suicide was the only way, but even more I'm grateful for what he has given us. Rest in peace.

I'm in shock, i still can't believe he's gone... R.I.P McQueen

this news wrecked my entire day... and i didn't even know him personal. can't imagine was his loved ones must be feeling :(

His amazing vision will be sorely missed!

I know it's still pretty early for this, but after the initial shock I'm realizing there indeed are many questions to be answered. I'm very curious what will happen with his brand now, will it be closed? At the moment I simply cannot imagine that someone would design for McQueen instead of McQueen.

this is horrible. Such an incredibly unique talent. So sad for his loved ones. :( such a loss... rip McQueen!
