some houses -- like dsquared2 -- called the seventies trend before it made its formal debut in womenswear, and other -- like ferragamo and cavalli -- have jumped on the bandwagon afterward. regardless, i really am not equipped to disparage it as a reference point as it stands as one of my favorite decades for menswear what with those intensely sexual silhouettes and decadent flourishes. this cavalli collection hit that decade dead on to the point where some stuff looked like it sprang from my father's wardrobe or one of his old issues of gq.
i'm curious if this means we'll get one of those great over-the-top collections for womenswear to correspond.
