Rochas F/W 06.07 Paris

I'm glad that Theyskens has toned down the frou frou frills and given us something with a little more edge. I actually agree with Sarah Mower's assessment - in that Theyskens has not lost sight of either realism nor romanticism. I was just thinking to myself that it was precisely romantic in a pragmatic way. For that I quite like this. It's not blow-your-mind-beautiful but it definitely has grit.

Pastry - I agree with you about the crow appliques - delicate enough and not so graphic-y as to throw the dress off course.

I also love the wispy cobweb dresses.....

very beautiful collection... a little hard-edged for rochas, but it's not a bad thing... i really love #s 17, 18, 27, 33 and 35...

i find this his less interesting collection to date.. ss06 was also very dissapointing (almost amateur-ish to be honest) when i saw it up close few days ago

LOVE it. What a hit for Rochas, in my book... just right up my alley... love that whole metallic, futuristic-feminine feeling I get when seeing the pieces... and the dark eyeliner and headbands just cap off the look.

The boots are great... and love that gray pant suit.

This is amazing... Theyskens never disappoints..

The choice of colour palette is fantastic, this is mainly what intrigues me so much about this collection.. he hit it right on the spot..

The pants are beautiful.. they seem like they have just about the perfect fit.. and they're stunning incorporated with the jackets..

The dresses are masterpieces.. they seem so lively, and almost visceral..

This collection is so beautiful..

I agree. And if the prices don't go down I wonder who will keep buying this?

It's the same thing except for the headbands. I don't mind the dresses at all, although there needs to be more variations in colour.

Theyskens really has become one of my favorite desginers in a very short time, his Rochas collections have become so beautiful, so interesting to look at. Ever since he began moving on from the stiff 60's couture themes he was exploring when he started at Rochas he has really won me over. This collection was no exception, I love the color palette, the smokey-ness of the pieces, especially those dresses towards the end with the sort of layered, frothy hems. I think those really sum up the collection, it's soft and romantic, but it has an underlying strength.

It's like brian said, it's a bit hard edged, but it works very well.

i wholeheartedly agree on that, lena. :(
there's nothing in the entire collection that i really love, not even the shorts...and that's my weakness.

I enjoy this collection! some of those dresses are insanely to die for

i really like this collection...
a nice extension of what he started doing for s/s...exploring more pants, shorts...

i see some great wearable pieces...^_^
and i agree francesca...love the tones of greys!!

I like this alot. He's brought back the harder edge his early work for Rochas had but it's not as over the top. Last season was such a bore so this is a nice change. I hope he continues and experiments more, bring back the avante garde and playful sensibilities Rochas had (and of course keep things elegant and romantic as always). Not my favorite of Paris but very nice.

WOW I love love love love it! It's so dark, so different from the other seasons... It makes me want to wear shorts in winter  And those headbands are adorable  And the dresses oh my!

Having seen the whole thing now, I still like ... and I think Olivier has really done what he needed to do (commercially) in tilting the collection toward daywear. The only criticism I have (and I know I have also criticized other designers for lack of consistency ) is that this seems a bit behind ... I say that because I'm wearing my spring clothes for the first time today (yay, pretty weather), and this is awfully similar to what I'm doing for spring. And I'd like to see something different for fall ...

It's really lovely, though, and the short skirts and shorts certainly do represent evolution.
