Sarah Burton - Designer, Creative Director of Givenchy

As big fan of SB menswear during her McQueen time I find it to be disrespectful and lazy not to release even a lookbook for men’s collection and then send tired *** Brad Pitt to parade in a second rated ill fitted jumpsuit while walking out of hotel instead of sending him down the red carpet or whatever in some interestingly cut suit. Just the lack of basic marketing strategy is appalling giving the budget and capabilities. Shame on them.

So unfortunate... what we see from her givenchy menswear look promising. Tailored yet not too formal.

Also like the look on charlize, pretty much a classic burton look. Probably the type she should be targetting.

I think even if its confusing so far, it will sell.

Why are they not on men’s week schedule? I feel like it’s been too quiet and there’s no momentum from the company.

They shot a lookbook for the men's collection but its release has been postponed due to some internal changes.
The brand will be over time reduced to a smaller operation especially in comparison to McQueen, mens runway is not a priority for them.

Completely agree the communication releases have so far been confusing for the client and casual follower, both in terms of pov direction, overlapping collections, unclear collections. It just sums up that LVMH have had no idea how to run the brand management and balancing aesthetic and business wise.

We are still at the beginning of Burton's tenure, so let's be patient, but from the outside Givenchy gives the impression of being badly managed, without clear direction neither strategy.
And that, for years now.

I have read many times here about "how difficult the codes of Givenchy are".
Please.
They have the second most iconic dress in cinema history.
There are brands that would kill to build a universe around a fraction of "Audrey at Breakfast-at-Tiffany's".

In my opinion the problems of this house go far beyond who is the creative director.

I do sympathize with the Givenchy codes not being easy to translate into something of today that is distinctive because even if they have icon moment like the dress and the movie Givenchy even in his own time was struggling to be distinctive if you look at press around that time he was sandwiched between balenciaga and the rest. even Ungaro knew how to be his own.

You had also the bettina blouse and the braided scarf and something in sports wear he was known for but forgotten by now i agree the name and the house logo is strong honestly if they had to stay true to the original Givenchy the would be something between a BCBG chanel and current YSL something streamlined and chic.

Hate to say it but Hedi type direction Celine FW2024 would be perfect for it without the rock and roll when he does evening wear and lux day wear its the closest modern thing that would be true to the original Givenchy

Ridiculous and off putting advertorial...kinda funny they deliberately avoided all the logo items from the collection
The only good item from the debut is this double zipper bomber leather jacket, which of course could be mistaken for something coming from her Mcqueen tenure...

That Photoshop is atrocious, if I didn’t know any better I would hypothesize that the photographer on Anne’s editorial is some poor soul suffering for cataracts. The lighting is hideous and the posing is as stiff as six-day-old bread. Givenchy should have asked for someone who can actually make clothes look good before agreeing to pay a fortune for an advertorial.

its giving halloween hooker starter pack set View attachment 1391180

Uh...oh...I can't believe that hideous opening look made past the runway...at least the stylist added the jacket to cover up partially that obnoxious logo

That opening look could do numbers for them easily if they had put it on the correct celebrity. Thats a look for Cardi B, Megan the stallion.

You mention Halloween hooker starter pack but that look is made for the girls who love bottle service in Miami. Atlanta strippers who spend money on stuff like that. They just need to be told where to spend their money by the right person. Charlize is not it

It’s a shame Annie photographed photographed Anne in all those givenchy looks because she’s terrible and doesn’t service the clothing well.

I want to see Sarah do well. I want to see her men’s. I’m eager to see but it’s just seems radio silent
