I love all the outfits, but...the guy in the second pic - aren´t you, like, cold?? I would...

Amazing sense of style though.
Thanks for the photos, pengy! :D

"My style is a mix of the 50's, the 60's and the 70's punk music. When I was 13, I started listening to The Who, The Clash and Eddie Cochran. That's how I found my style.
Today I wanted to dress up in a mod-inspired style. The scarf adds colour to it.
I mostly shop at thrift stores and small boutiques."

Päivyt (25) and Lumimarja (25)
Päivyt: "I like everything romantic, detailed and colourful like flowers, feathers, nets, hats and corsets. My style icon is American singer-violinist Emilie Autumn."
Lumimarja: "I'm an aesthete, a passionista and a chameleont. Colours have a therapeutic value to me and I find flamboyance essential too. At the moment I'm thrilled with ruby shoes and emerald green, melancholic arts and dark artists."

Katja (28)
"The leather jacket cost 2 euros at a thrift store. My grandmother made the cardigan for me in the 80's. It took 20 years before I learnt to like it. The jewellery is self-made and the trousers bought at Oulu market place.
Now I'm looking for water-wings.
My favourite colour is a rainbow."

Laura (22)
"All my clothes are second hand except my jumper which is from Muji. I like second hand, vintage and often end up buying children's clothes.
I'm from Australia but now in Finland I have a good excuse to wear mittens and woollen hats. I also like Norwegian pullovers.
Florence and The Machine have a great style, they dress up like a circus."

20081127_01.jpg

Aamu (34)
"My baggy pants are designed by Com-pa-ny, which is me and Johan Olin. They are made by an old factory run by a nice old couple in Kokkola, Finland. My polyurethane shirt is by Comme des Garçons. My hat is made by Ssamzie, a nice company in Seoul. I'm crazy about workingmen's clothes. I have lots of them, for example rice farmer's shoes from Thailand, electrician's gloves from Finland and building worker's pants from Japan."

Nora (23)
"I bought my skirt at the recycling center, because I liked the floral ruffles. My bag, cardigan, belt and boots are also vintage.
Now in winter I try to lighten up my look with skirts and boots.
I'm modeling myself and like the international model look, half-bohemian style à la Anja Rubik. Lately I've been inspired by great editorial pictures in French Vogue and gothic looks."

20081130_01.jpg

Maria (15) and Veikko (15) Maria: "I make clothes myself and shop abroad. My skirt is self-made. The necklace is by Vivienne Westwood and was given me when I was confirmed. I follow local designers like Minna Parikka."
Veikko: "I'm wearing a self-made shirt, a t-shirt from India, Cheap Monday jeans, Nike sneakers and a bag by Tokidoki. Vivienne Westwood is my favourite and I'm wearing her necklace, too."

Ella (20)
"I bought my fake-fur jacket 1,5 years ago at UFF for two euros. The boots I bought in New York and the bag is from a thrift store.
Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland and everything black and simple inspire my style. Acne is my favourite brand but I mostly buy second hand. I also really like Chloë Sevigny's collection for Opening Ceremony."

Sylvie (39)
"My jumpsuit is made by Vintage Eija's out of an original 50's fabric. I and Eija got the idea while browsing old magazines. My frames and ear rings are from the 50's, too.
I found my style over 20 years ago. I shop online, at parties and at VintagEija's."

20081207_02.jpg

Tuulia (11)
"I like lolita style, because it's beautiful. I discoreved it at Moon Kana's gig.
Now I'm wearing a shirt and shoes from China, a skirt made by my mother's friend and a headdress that I bought at a rock festival in China.
My mother has found many lolita-inspired clothes for me. I've also customized my clothes. Here at Ofelia I got an idea to make jewellery from old playing cards."

20081207_03.jpg

Nelli (13)
"I'm wearing borrowed clothes today: The jeans shirt belongs to my mother, the checked shirt to my father. The hat I bought here at Ofelia.
I like classic pieces like hats and checked shirts but also nu-rave inspired, colourful things like vintage adidas sweaters from my parents' wardrobe.
I think M.I.A. has a great style."

(Ofelia is a second hand market in Helsinki)

20081207_04.jpg

Mimosa (18)
"All my clothes are second hand except the shirt which is from Gina Tricot.
I like feminine clothes. Lace is my new obsession and hats are a must. 50's movie stars and old-time glamour inspire my style. I don't like to wear modern clothes."

20081207_05.jpg

Naomi (16)
"I bought my jacket at UFF for two euros. I like the pink colour. The necklace is self-made. I got the idea while sleeping. The sunglasses cost 1 euro at H&M.
Cyber goths and post-punk bands inspire my style. I adore many people's styles, beginning from Veltto Virtanen.
If I had more money, I would probably buy Vivienne Westwood, Viktor & Rolf and Comme des Garçons."

20081207_06.jpg

Sanni (13)
"I like bright colours, ties, checkered clothes and my yellow Dr. Martens boots.
Pippi Longstocking is my style idol and source of inspiration. Pippi is cool, because she does whatever she wants and has a great style."

20081207_07.jpg

Sebastian (18)
"I've had blue hair for a couple of years now. Blue is my favourite colour and it's nice that it's the first thing I see in the mirror in the morning.
I like 80's goth rock style. David Bowie and Siouxie Sioux are my style role models."

20081207_08.jpg

Emma (20)
"Many people say that winter is the most uninspiring time what comes to style. I disagree. Darkness and depressing weather inspire me. It's great to wrap myself with big, warm clothes.
Now I'm wearing a jacket from Hietalahti second hand market, shoes from Paris and trousers from Sokos sale.
Old people inspire me, too. Don't forget your grandparents! They need your visit."

20081207_09.jpg

Riikka (26)
"My jacket is vintage André Courrèges. It cost 90 euros at a second hand market in Brussels. My hat and bag are from Brussels, too.
I like asymmetrical cuts, bright colours and simple, graphic style. Martin Margiela is therefore one of my favourite designers. I seldom buy unused clothes, though."

i would recommend copenhagen
I wouldn't recommend Denmark at all... These pics don't represent what people are wearing in the streets. In reality they all look like each other in too tight leggings and too short skirts with their bomber leather jackets and partisan scarves. Actually, they all look a lot like Lindsay Lohan

It may just be the blogger's photography selections, but I've noticed that the Finnish people have a quirkier style than the other Scandinavians (if one views Finland as part of Scandinavia). They are not as elegant or cutting-edge as Swedes, for example. In fact, they are downright awkward sometimes. But they seem to be so artistic and sweet, at least that's the vibe I get from them (the Swedes kind of intimidate me).

P.S. What is Ofelia? I was still playing with my stuffed animals when I was 11, I didn't even know what a rock festival was!

dang, scandinavian street style never fails to amaze me

pengy I like how they just go for it. I personally would not wear that..but I commend anyone who feels comfortable enough to just do it especially because they like it.

I think swedes have a great street style. We mix it up and push the limits, but not to the point where it doesn't work anymore. My style would be street and a little hip-hop inspired with a cool colourful t-shirt a nice pair of jeans or chinos and a cool hat, and then I mix this up from day too day. I think swedes try to create a personal style as much as they can.

So there you go, a look into Sweden's street style. I love this thread it gives me so much inspiration.
